12:00 – GAILLIMH A STOR
GAILLIMH A STOR made a promising return to action when filling the runner-up spot at Kelso earlier this month, passing the post just a neck behind the winner despite leaving the impression the steady gallop was against him. He emerged as the best horse at the weights under his penalty and there should be more to come from him after just three starts over hurdles. This looks just an ordinary novice event and an excellent opportunity for him to get his head back in front.
12:35 – GENTLEMAN DE MAI
GENTLEMAN DE MAI was returning from over a year off the track when making his handicap debut at Kelso a few weeks ago and shaped with plenty of encouragement. He was doing his best work late on even after taking a strong hold, finishing with running left around eight lengths behind the winner. He should have a bigger effort in the locker when the emphasis is more on stamina and a BHA mark of 103 is unlikely to prove beyond him somewhere down the line.

13:10 – CARNFUNNOCK
CARNFUNNOCK achieved a high level of form in five starts in bumpers, producing his best effort when last seen winning at Down Royal earlier in the month. He was well on top at the finish on that occasion, asserting in the final 100 yards to beat the highly touted favourite by a length and a quarter. He has the makings of a useful novice hurdler and is likely to prove too classy in a race where those with previous hurdling experience haven’t shown a great deal.
13:40 – CAPTAIN QUINT
Looked a good prospect when making a successful chasing debut at Hexham on his penultimate outing, going clear on the home turn and always doing enough from there to land the spoils by a length and a half. Captain Quint turned out quickly after unseating his rider at the first at Newcastle on Saturday, he remains totally unexposed and deserves another chance to prove that he is still one step ahead of the handicapper from a BHA mark of 120, with this trip promising to suit if the stamina in his pedigree is anything to go by.

14:10 – PRONTOANITA
PRONTOANITA shaped nicely on debut in a race which didn’t pan out ideally for her at Aintree a few weeks ago. The winner made every yard of the running under a well-judged ride and came home unchallenged, whereas Prontoanita was held up at the back of the field and never really had any chance of getting on terms. She deserves plenty of credit for emerging as the best of the rest in second and this could be her chance to go one better with further progress on the cards.
14:40 – BAK ROCKY
BAK ROCKY is the type to make a better chaser and there was plenty to like about his debut effort in this sphere at Kelso last month, staying on strongly to pass the post only two and a quarter lengths behind the winner. He is entitled to improve with that run under his belt – his first after six months off and wind surgery – and the extra distance today will certainly play to his strengths. He is only 1lb higher in the weights than last time and seems destined to play a leading role.
15:10 – KINGSTON BRIDGE
KINGSTON BRIDGE made a promising start to his career when winning a bumper at Kelso recently, hitting the front at the end of the back straight and gradually drawing clear from there to win by seven and a half lengths. He has potential to improve for that experience and this looks a thin contest in which he should be capable of defying a penalty to maintain his unbeaten record.
