Horse Racing Tips: A 4/1 pick for Punchestown on Tuesday

The Racing Post boffins like the look of Harveys Quay in the 14:25.

11:45 – Get My Drift

An open-looking contest. Having shown plenty of promise on his chasing debut at Navan, GET MY DRIFT should be able to show the benefit of that experience to score today. Grandero Bello also ran a cracker on chasing debut and is a danger, along with Marvel De Cerisy, though the latter has to bounce back from a fall.

12:15 – Merry Moves

A promising first effort over fences at Fairyhouse suggests that MERRY MOVES (NAP) will be good enough to beat Sanibel Island who has been restored to form by Michael Hourigan and is now bidding for a hat-trick. Glen Ava flopped when favourite at Downpatrick last time, but had previously shown decent form over hurdles at Perth for Iain Jardine.

12:50 – Hunters Yarn

With the advantage of race-fitness, dual bumper winner The Big Doyen should go close here, but HUNTERS YARN shades the vote as a three-time bumper winner who can probably be forgiven a disappointing performance on his only start over hurdles last season. Spillane’s Tower and Nucky Johnson have shown definite promise, and Excuzio Joe is worth considering on her Flat form.

13:25 – Timmy Tuesday

The Willie Mullins-trained import Intranet is of strong interest, but he may not cope with TIMMY TUESDAY, whose Cork third has been boosted by the winner’s follow-up success at Gowran on Saturday. Belle The Lioness is the other likely main player. The once-raced Skip Mahler and newcomer Gaye Winnie are others to note.

13:55 – Falcon Eight

The 2m trip is short of the optimum for FALCON EIGHT but Dermot Weld’s former Chester Cup winner may get the better of Tax For Max whose overall record is unconvincing, winner of only one of his ten starts over hurdles. Despite a lengthy absence Weseekhimhere may pose a greater threat than stablemate Hiaou.

14:25 – Harvey’s Quay

The choice of the owner’s retained rider, HARVEY’S QUAY should have improvement to come from his promising return at Cork and can win off a 1lb higher mark. The Truant wasn’t far behind him that day and could prove his main threat. Look Don’t Touch was running well when unseating over C&D last time and is a player, as is Pythion.

14:55 – Sandor Clegane

Though a beaten favourite on hurdling debut last time over 2m, SANDOR CLEGANE should have improved since and the step up to this trip can see him go one better. Demandrivingdouvan is a point’ winner and a smart bumper scorer, so has to be respected on hurdling debut. Silver King should run another respectable race.

15:25 – Clear The Clouds

Having won his last two and been given time between his races, Penny Jar is of major interest but this ground is softer than what he has won on. A chance is taken on CLEAR THE CLOUDS, who ran his best race up to 2m4f last time and should have more to give. Cher Why Not is arguably more effective over 3m but is still a player. Verdant Place and Imperial Kate have the ability to run well and need a market check.
