12:15 – Luccia

Luccia made an excellent start to her career when storming clear in a Warwick bumper on debut and she then built on that positive impression when slamming her rivals in a listed bumper at Sandown, putting up the best performance by a mare in the division last season. Those performances identified Luccia as an exciting prospect and she can maintain her unbeaten record now sent hurdling.

12:45 – Thyme Hill

Thyme Hill was one of the leading players in the staying hurdle division (he finished runner-up in the Stayers’ Hurdle division) and he made a pleasing start over fences at Exeter a few weeks ago, comfortably brushing aside inferior rivals. Thyme Hill has gone chasing late in the day – he’s eight rising nine – but he showed enough at Exeter, where he largely jumped well, to suggest he could reach a similar level to what he managed over hurdles.

13:20 – Demachine

Demachine disappointed when one of the market leaders in the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster on his penultimate start, but, given another breathing operation and a four-month break, he bounced back to form to justify support in a two-and-a-half mile handicap chase at Uttoxeter in May. Demachine doesn’t have many miles on the clock, particularly at trips short of three miles, and he still appeals as being on a handy mark after going up 4 lb in the weights.

13:55 – Malakahna

Malakahna enjoyed a productive time over hurdles last season, winning on four occasions, including on her handicap hurdle debut at Cheltenham on her final outing of the campaign. She also progressed on the Flat in 2022, winning two-mile handicaps at Ascot and Newmarket on her last couple of starts. Malakahna showed an excellent attitude to prevail at Newmarket last time, digging deep in a race that proved to be a good test at the trip, and she is entitled to improve again now tackling two and a half miles over hurdles.

14:30 – Teddy Blue

Teddy Blue, a lightly-raced winner on the Flat in France, offered something to work with when finishing runner-up on his hurdling debut and first start for Gary Moore at Lingfield in February, and he took a big step forward on that effort when runner-up in the Grade 2 Adonis Juvenile Hurdle at Kempton just 11 days later. Teddy Blue looked such a bright prospect at Kempton that connections decided to have a crack at the Triumph Hurdle, but his inexperience counted against him and he failed to make an impression.

A lack of knowhow also proved to be his undoing against a tough and straightforward rival on his return at Kempton last month, but Teddy Blue then had no problem making the most of a good opportunity at Fontwell, cruising 20 lengths clear. He has been handed a potentially lenient opening mark and, as a strong-travelling sort, should benefit from a well-run race on his handicap debut.

15:05 – Le Milos

Le Milos was largely progressive for Tim Vaughan – he won a couple of handicaps last season – but he took his form to a new level on his first start for Dan Skelton at Bangor on his reappearance earlier this month. There was a lot to like about how Le Milos moved through that race at Bangor and he only needed to be kept up to his work after quickening clear on the home turn. He still has more to offer for this yard and looks well treated under just a 4lb penalty for his Bangor success.

15:40 – Amarillo Sky

Amarillo Sky took well to chasing last season, winning on a couple of occasions, including at this venue, and he showed a good jumping technique and a willing attitude to make a successful reappearance at Cheltenham a couple of weeks ago. That was not a deep contest by Cheltenham standards, but there was still a lot to like about Amarillo Sky completed the task and he should launch another bold bid after a 4 lb rise in the weights
