13:20 Newbury – Dublin Four

Kapcorse won this race last year but it’s easy to say he’s been laid out for the it again. I’m drawn to DUBLIN FOUR, who was dropped right in at Wetherby behind Into Overdrive on his last start and came home really well over the final two furlongs. He has a chance.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

13:55 Newbury – Walking On Air

I thought 132 was a really good mark for WALKING ON AIR. You think how far or how easily he won here beating a horse rated at 122. I thought 132 was pretty lenient for walking on air here.

FANCY A CHANCE TO WIN £/€25K?

14:10 Newcastle – Constitution Hill

Look, CONSTITUTION HILL will win. Epatante should finish second. And if Tommy’s Oscar hadn’t gone chasing and was coming here off the back of his hurdle runs, I’d say he was the one for the tricast. But he ran over fences at Cheltenham when second to Banbridge and when horses revert to hurdling from fences, they can just spend that extra 100th of a second in the air over the obstacles. They add up though in Grade One races and cost you quite a lot of ground.

14:30 Newbury – Pikar

Dan Skelton’s PIKAR was raised 2lbs for his win at Chepstow last time in a novice hurdle. A mark of 127 looks fair was a fair mark in this tougher contest.

15:05 Newbury – Gericault Roque

It’s a good renewal of the Coral Gold Cup – without being outstanding. It’s very competitive as always and I’m going for GERICAULT ROQUE. He put up a brilliant effort in the Ultima Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last season and was very good at Warwick before that. He is still only a six year old so has age on his side. There’s no reason he couldn’t have improved more over the summer. You could argue he was a little disappointing at Aintree where Remastered finished in front of him on his seasonal reappearance but that will have brought him on for this contest. He likes to race close to the pace which is a bonus in this contest and he’s a really good jumper. I’m with Gericault Roque.

15:25 Newcastle – Into Overdrive

L’Homme Presse missed last week’s engagement at Ascot but INTO OVERDRIVE has a chance of beating him now. Into Overdrive did really well to win over 2m 3f on reappearance and there’s no doubt about his stamina for today’s 3m trip. I think Into Overdrive can go all the way.

15:40 Newbury – Monsieur Lecoq

Amarillo Sky was good when he won at Cheltenham last time. He jumped well – maybe a little high –  at his fences – but but did win well. He’s only been raised 4lbs for that victory and is probably the one to be on. But I want to take a chance on MONSIEUR LECOQ, who I actually tipped in Amarillo Sky’s race, but he didn’t run on the day. The stable’s horses are probably in better form now than they were then. He’s won at Newbury in the past and has had a couple of decent runs at Ascot. I know he is eight years of age, but I think he’s on a mark that he can do himself justice on. I’ll stick with him.
