Coral Gold Cup runners
Fanion D’Estruval
Trainer: Venetia Williams Jockey: Miss Lucy Turner Age: 7 Weight: 12st 0lbs
Improved performer last season, including a 2½m handicap at this meeting. Matched that in defeat subsequently (including third in 21f Ascot Grade 1) but major stamina doubts up signficantly in trip on reappearance, while he’d need a high-class effort under clear top weight in any case.
**
Fiddlerontheroof
Trainer: Joe Tizzard Jockey: Brendan Powell Age: 8 Weight: 11st 9lbs
Excellent second in this race 12 months ago and fifth in Grand National on final start last season. Ran creditably on his hurdle reappearance but will require a big career best to go one better than last year. Has first-time cheekpieces added to his regular tongue tie.
***
Threeunderthrufive
Trainer: Paul Nicholls Jockey: A. P. Heskin Age: 7 Weight: 11st 5lbs
Enhanced his good strike-rate with 4 novice chase wins last season. incuding Grade 2 events at Doncaster and Warwick. One of a few in this field who comes here on the back of a prep run over hurdles. Has cheekpieces on for the first time. Yard continues in excellent form.
***
Lostintranslation
Trainer: Joe Tizzard Jockey: Freddie Gingell Age: 10 Weight: 11st 4lbs
Top-class chaser at best (Betfair Chase winner and third in Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2019/20). Lost his way after an Ascot reappearance win last season but clearly capable when fresh.
**
Busselton
Trainer: Joseph Patrick O’Brien Jockey: J. J. Slevin Age: 5 Weight: 11st 3lbs
Suited by the step up to 3m when winning the Kerry National at Listowel in September. Likeable and consistent type from a much respected Irish stable. Should give another good account of himself.
****
Potterman
Trainer: Alan King Jockey: Tom Cannon Age: 9 Weight: 11st 3lbs
Got his head back in front in a 4-runner-race at Kelso in March. Shaped as if needing the run when sixth in the Badger Beer at Wincanton on his reappearance but vulnerable at this level of competition even if back to his very best. Visored first time.
**
Corach Rambler
Trainer: Lucinda Russell Jockey: Age: 8 Weight: 11st 1lbs
Developed into a smart chaser last season, notably winning 24-runner Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival (25f) final start. Made a satisfactory reappearance over a trip short of his best at Carlisle last month. Every chance he’ll resume his progression now faced with a more suitable test.
****
Le Milos
Trainer: Dan Skelton Jockey: Harry Skelton Age: 7 Weight: 11st 0lbs
Two wins for Tim Vaughan last winter and took it up another notch when comfortably making a winning start for his leading new yard in a 3m Bangor handicap 17 days ago. Looks well treated under a 4 lb penalty, particularly as he likely has more to offer for this stable.
*****
Remastered
Trainer: David Pipe Jockey: David Noonan Age: 9 Weight: 10st 10lbs
Going strongly when falling 4 out in this race 12 months ago. Races off a 4lb lower mark this time and an Aintree hurdle win on his recent reappearance after another breathing operation suggests he could be better than ever. High on the shortlist.
****
Our Power
Trainer: Sam Thomas Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies Age: 7 Weight: 10st 9lbs
Shaped well in a couple of top handicaps at the end of last season and bagged a nice prize on his 3m Ascot reappearance 4 weeks ago. Mark up into the 140s now but he may not have reached his limit. Has a first-time tongue strap added to his cheekpieces. Respected.
****
Gericault Roque
Trainer: David Pipe Jockey: Tom Scudamore Age: 6 Weight: 10st 7lbs
Took very well to chasing last season, placed all 5 starts, including excellent second of 24 to Corach Rambler in Ultima at Cheltenham (25f) on final start. Well behind stablemate Remastered in Aintree handicap hurdle on reappearance but remains open to improvement back chasing.
****
Oscar Elite
Trainer: Joe Tizzard Jockey: Harry Cobden Age: 7 Weight: 10st 7lbs
Yet to win over fences but he showed he can mix it in competitive handicaps when third of 24 to Corach Rambler in the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Should be sharper for a reappearance run over hurdles last month. Stable has won this twice since 2016 (also had the runner-up last year).
***
Annsam
Trainer: Evan Williams Jockey: Adam Wedge Age: 7 Weight: 10st 5lbs
Won a listed handicap at Ascot last December and also scored over hurdles here in the spring. Below par behind Our Power back at Ascot on reappearance 4 weeks ago. Hard to fancy after that.
**
Lord Accord
Trainer: Neil Mulholland Jockey: Richie McLernon Age: 7 Weight: 10st 4lbs
Useful chaser who took advantage of some leniency from the handicapper when seeing off 8 rivals at Cheltenham (25f) in October. Good second to Frodon in the Badger Beer at Wincanton since but this looks even stronger.
***
Red Happy
Trainer: David Pipe Jockey: Philip Armson Age: 5 Weight: 10st 2lbs
French import who landed a sixth win since March when seeing off 3 rivals at Exeter last month. Respectable fifth in the Bager Beer at Wincanton (25f) next time but had weakened out of contention when refusing at the last in the Sussex National 13 days ago. 4 lb out of the handicap.
**
Diablo De Rouhet
Trainer: Nicky Henderson Jockey: Jack Tudor Age: 9 Weight: 10st 2lbs
Developed into useful chaser for this yard in 2019. Proved he retains ability when third of 7 in handicap chase at Bangor (3m) in July but well beaten over hurdles last month. 4 lb out of the handicap. Others are more obvious.

Coral Gold Cup tips
Timeform: After a comfortable reappearance win at Bangor it’s likely LE MILOS has better to come for new trainer Dan Skelton so he’s selected to make light of a 4 lb penalty. Remastered looked set to have a big say in this last year when departing at the fourth last and a reappearance win over hurdles suggests he can figure prominently with a clear round. There’s likely even more to come from London Gold Cup winner Our Power so he’s also on the shortlist along with Corach Rambler and Busselton.
