While Lac De Constance (second choice) is an interesting prospect for novice chasing and Hudson De Grugy is open to improvement back down in trip, the useful SAMARRIVE has the clear best chance at the weights and hopefully won’t repeat his Ascot fall.

Preference is for bottom-weight ISLAND RUN, who is from a family that has served his owners well and should be capable of better still. Second choice is the solid Mr Yeats, ahead of Fugitives Drift and Come On Gruff.

With improvement on the cards, VIVA LAVILLA gets the verdict. Second choice is productive chaser Le Cameleon, ahead of Scene Not Herd who remains of interest in this sphere. A few others also have possibilities in a competitive event.

Having comfortably won a similar event over C&D on his last appearance, AMERICAN GERRY (nap) holds particularly strong claims. Grivetana is feared most, ahead of Moulins Clermont and Swaffham Bulbeck.
