12:40 – Borntobealeader

Borntobealeader, a winner on the Flat at Goodwood in August, failed to justify support on his hurdling debut at Plumpton in September but he took a big step forward when successful in a first-time hood at Ludlow last time, proving too good despite failing to impress with his jumping. He was well on top at the finish and looks capable of better, particularly if brushing up on his jumping, so can defy a penalty here.

13:15 – Presenting A Queen

Presenting A Queen won both starts in bumpers last season and she extended her unbeaten record under Rules when making a successful hurdling debut at Chepstow last month. Presenting A Queen was forced to grind it out in a race that didn’t provide a sufficient test of stamina, and the bare form is nothing special, but she is entitled to be sharper for that experience and should appreciate this step up in trip.

13:50 – Pilsdon Pen

Pilsdon Pen was only modest on the Flat but he has taken well to jumping and has a positive profile in handicap hurdles, winning twice and finishing runner-up twice from four starts. He produced his best effort yet on Timeform’s figures when runner-up at Warwick in March on his latest outing and he is able to race off the same mark here on his return.

14:25 – Dubrovnik Harry

Dubrovnik Harry made an encouraging start to his career when third in a novice hurdle here last December and he built on that promise to get off the mark back at this venue the following month. He then failed to meet expectations when beaten at long odds-on under a penalty at Leicester, but he got back on the right track on his handicap debut at Sandown, finishing third in the competitive EBF Final. There was a lot to like about how well Dubrovnik Harry kept on once finding his stride and he appeals as the type to prove at least as good over fences.

15:00 – Hows The Cricket

Hows The Cricket was well backed on his chasing debut (and first start since undergoing a wind operation) at Ffos Las last month and he justified that support with a ten-length success. He was arguably a shade fortunate as the race was still in the balance when the leader departed at the second-last but, either way, it was still an encouraging introduction to chasing from How’s The Cricket and there should be more to come from him back up in trip.

15:35 – Hartur d’Oudairies

Hartur d’Oudairies, a bumper winner in France, looked a useful sort when making a successful hurdling debut for Dan Skelton at Warwick last season, quickening clear in impressive style. He was then last of five in a good-quality novice hurdle at Cheltenham a couple of weeks later, but it’s easy enough to overlook that effort as others were better positioned in a race that developed into a sprint in the straight. He remains with untapped potential and it would be little surprise were he to prove better than this mark of 117.

16:05 – Flutiste

Flutiste was disappointing on his chasing debut at Warwick in February when last seen, but that effort can be overlooked as it turned out he had a breathing issue. He has had a wind operation ahead of this return to action, so that problem should be behind him now, and he looks fairly handicapped based on the pick of his efforts over hurdles, which include a few placed efforts at this venue.
