Several interesting contenders to consider. Top of the list is the Nicky Henderson-trained ISSUING AUTHORITY, who impressed on his bumper debut here in March. Punchestown bumper runner-up Passing Well is second choice on his first start for the bang-in-form Jamie Snowden, ahead of Carlisle second Harjo. Present Fair and Rock on Harry also have potential.

Having shown plenty of promise in bumpers, KATEIRA can score on her hurdle debut for last year’s winning trainer Dan Skelton. Hidden Beauty was travelling well when badly hampered on the home turn over C&D last month and is feared most, ahead of Ffos Las winner Ilovethenightlife.

13:23 – Serious Charges

Some likeable chasing prospects to consider, headed by the very lightly raced 5yo SERIOUS CHARGES who won a handicap hurdle here in March and for whom trainer Anthony Honeyball has high hopes over fences. The Nicky Henderson-trained Surrey Quest is next on the list, while Bear Ghylls, Arizona Cardinal and Super Survivor are other notable candidates.

13:58 – Newberry New

A chance is taken on NEWBERRY NEW. He’s 5lb out of the handicap and has run well just once over the last 12 months, but that was the only previous time he’s worn these blinkers and the form of that second at Leicester in March has worked out very well. The very lightly raced point winner Glebe Road is a possible improver on his chase debut and he could be the chief danger ahead of last year’s runner-up Bitasweetsymphony. Croagh Patrick and Conceal arrive on the back of good runs.

14:33 – Eyeofthescorpion

The 5yo The Changing Man is firmly on the up and is very much feared, but he’s unproven on the forecast soft ground and preference is for EYEOFTHESCORPION. His trainer can ready one after an absence and he’s on a handy mark on last autumn’s form. Risk And Roll is a possible if handling conditions, while Bobo Mac has obvious claims if this doesn’t come too soon after his win at Chepstow on Friday, for which he is unpenalised.

15:08 – Punctuation

Fergal O’Brien’s PUNCTUATION (nap) won two good handicaps last season once fitted with a tongue-tie and this scopey 5yo has the potential to rate higher again. With Krypton Gold perhaps better on drier ground the danger could be Balagan, if he’s fit enough after an absence.

Having caught the eye when staying on well over 2m1f on his handicap debut at Fontwell, HESBEHINDYOU is taken to get off the mark now back up in trip. The return to a slow surface could be just what Accidental Legend needs and he could be the main threat, although Yvette Guilbert, Justshortofabubble and Captain Claude are also capable of going well. Colonial Empire arrives in good form but needs to prove his stamina.
