When JOURNEY WITH ME made a winning debut over hurdles at Leopardstown last December Kilcruit was the beaten odds-on favourite. Henry de Bromhead’s runner had a better season overall than the Mullins-trained former bumper star, and he may be quicker to adapt to chasing.
If HALLOWED STAR (nap) can reproduce the form he has shown at Galway this term he should account for the more experienced Midnight Run. Grand Paradis has a lot more experience over fences than stablemate Mars Harper but will need to jump much better than on his seasonal debut at Cork.
This can probably be narrowed to three leading contenders. Gordon Elliott’s Goffs Land Rover Bumper ABSOLUTE NOTIONS may have the measure of Benaud, an interesting recruit from the Flat, and Deep Cave, an expensive addition to the De Bromhead team after winning a maiden point.

Four of the six hold Royal Bond entries but whether any will be up to that task remains to be seen. HALIBUT is one of the least exposed and still raw but may well have the most potential of these. He will have to jump slicker than he did at Clonmel but gets the vote ahead of The Model Kingdom in a race in which none can be ruled out.
Jungle Prose is the obvious starting point and could well have still more to offer at this trip. However, slight preference is for the 4yo DR VAL, whose Fairyhouse second was well franked by the winner at Cheltenham subsequently. Others with claims include Tyre Kicker, Alfieri and the reappearing Birdie Blitz.
Possibly not the strongest winners’ bumper for the venue. Teuchters Glory is the sole previous winner but his two-year absence suggests training problems. Answering shaped nicely at Thurles after a long absence and could well improve again, but it is probably worth keeping the faith with Goffs Land Rover disappointment CALDWELL POTTER, who could well have benefited from having time off since and comes from a yard in cracking form.

14.13 – Queens Brook
No real strength in depth here and a likely match in which QUEENS BROOK is preferred over Heaven Help Us.
