The third of GLIMPSE OF GALA’s three wins last season came in a mares’ handicap. Has performed well against male rivals in both outings this term, clear second at Aintree latest. Holds solid claims and warrants plenty of respect.

14:25 Haydock – Get a Tonic (Andrew Bladen)

GET A TONIC was runner-up in Listed mares’ novice at Doncaster in March on her first attempt at 3m under rules, and she went one better in a mares’ handicap at Ayr in April. Tough task against males on this reappearance but she’s highly regarded by her top trainer and could go well.

15:15 Ascot – So Scottish (The Brigadier)

SO SCOTTISH represents shrewd Irish trainer Emmet Mullins, who has a good strike-rate with his British runners. Enhanced that record with a success at Carlisle most recently, completing a hat-trick. 2-2 in the chasing sphere and should have more to offer.

17:00 Wolverhampton – Mighty Gurkah (Moorestyle)

MIGHTY GURKAH had no excuses from the front when behind in-form opposition at Chelmsford but that was a welcome return to form and he’s done most of his racing at 6f. Well drawn to be handy.
