17:00 – Sea Spray

We start on Friday with a 1m maiden for colts and geldings where Timely Boost has shown patches of form and while there’s a bit to like about him, I’m not completely sold on him yet.

I prefer Sea Spray who was too keen when tenth of 11th in a Curragh maiden and the switch to the polytrack should suit. He could be a bit of value in a race where Sea of Cortez for Joseph O’Brien is worth watching in the market as the stable is flying.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

17:30 – Moonlist Mist

This is a fillies’ maiden over 1m where Mick Halford has a well-bred newcomer in Ameerat Jumaira and Joseph O’Brien introduces newcomer Dancethenightaway.

Moonlist Mist under Gavin Ryan interests me. She’s very well – by Australia – and missed the start at Thurles before finishing fifth beaten less than 10 lengths and got bogged down in the ground after that at Gowran Park when fourth despite being hampered. She looks like she might be a bit of value now switched to the polytrack surface.

18:00 – Malaysian

An apprentice handicap over the mile for three year olds and upwards where Ellabella is a four-time course winner who could make a bold bid from the front. Double Martini would be a big player if he gets away on terms, but he rarely does. Leclerc is interesting but Malaysian is long overdue a second success and ran well for her new stable last time. Dylan Browne McMonagle rides from a good stall in box two and off a handicap mark of 54 can make her presence felt.

18:30 – Miss Abby Jools

The second division of the race sees our old friend Miss Abby Jools head the weights under Dylan Browne McMonagle who can ride in apprentice races for the next three weeks or so.

Cousin Shay was a good winner last time and could still be well handicapped but really needs a strong pace to aim at. Circles is getting nearer a winning mark but Miss Abby Jools has a good draw in stall seven and can win again.

19:00 – Hotrocket

A proper race where the ratings band is extended. Final Voyage looks an interesting runner for Johnny Murtagh and could strike for connections. Might and Mercy under Colin Keane is fitted with cheekpieces for the first time after an agonising defeat last week when just caught in the shadow of the post.

However, I’ll stick with the higher rated runners and Hotrocket was an impressive winner in July and has now switched to Joseph O’Brien’s yard. There may be more improvement to come from her.

19:30 – Teddy Boy

Qaabil was well backed when winning at Gowran Park two starts ago but I’m not sure if the polytrack will suit him. Florence Thompson is consistent but is still to win in 30 starts. Teddy Boy should relish being back at Dundalk and ran well at Navan recently on the turf. It’s looking like a very good night for Dylan Browne McMonigle if my thinking works out.

20:00 – St Cianans Fire

St Cianans Fire looks well treated and should be hard to beat. He got away lightly with a 5lb penalty last time and was still hard on the bridle a furlong and a half out from a bad draw when winning last time. He meets a few Dundalk regulars but should be up to the job and is my nap of the night.

20:30 – Well Funded

The reigning Irish champion jockey Colin Keane rides Mephisto for his dad Gerard but target trainer Eoin McCarthy has a lively candidate in Well Funded over this 1m 4f. She was a good winner over hurdles at Punchestown but put in an eye-catching run last time when staying on best beaten a little over two and a half lengths into eighth.
