Plenty with chances, Green Glory, Ballybawn Belter and Meetingofthewaters the best of those with hurdling experience. However, a chance is taken on hurdling debutant SENIOR CHIEF, whose Cork bumper third reads well. Other hurdling debutants to note include The Four Sixes and Ik’s Man.

13:47 – Doctor Churchill

West Cork Wildway has the class to threaten in this company despite top weight and his latest Flat effort when blinkered for the first time bodes well. Preference, however, is for the 4yo DOCTOR CHURCHILL, who should appreciate this return to testing conditions. Blanketontheground is solid.

14:23 – Scarlet And Dove

With three of today’s rivals behind her when recording a thumping victory at the Punchestown festival, SCARLET AND DOVE looks the one to beat. Elimay could again be the one to follow the selection home, while the relatively unexposed Western Zara could sneak a place.

14:53 – Blue Lord

Willie Mullins, in his Racing Post Jumps Stable Tour, considers BLUE LORD a Champion Chase contender so it is a bit surprising the 7yo starts his second season chasing over this longer trip. Nonetheless, he may have that bit more scope for improvement to hold off his three rivals here, the best of which could be Darasso.

15:23 – Womalko

Some of these command attention on their hurdling exploits and especially WOMALKO (nap), who finds himself rated 21lb lower in this discipline. That’s for a reason, but this is his first handicap as a chaser and the switch to Gordon Elliott naturally heightens interest. Kingston Kid is another who may have more to offer in this discipline but the dangers are probably Early Arrival and admirable veteran Capture The Drama.

An interesting finale. Considering how weak he was in the betting beforehand, TRANSMISSION did surprisingly well to split two very good horses at Wexford. Diamboy Des Carres posted a similar RPR when fourth at the same meeting and Sa Fureur is another key player after shaping well behind two subsequent winning hurdlers at Fairyhouse.
