All of these are making their debuts over hurdles but there was plenty to glean from LET’S GO AMIGO’s debut effort in a bumper at Warwick last month. He attracted support on that occasion but was green and was outpaced when the pace lifted approaching the home turn. He is bred to be more of a stayer, and certainly shaped that way, so he is expected to relish this step up in trip now sent hurdling. Annie Wicks should also benefit from moving up in trip but point-winner Tara Line is likely to emerge as the main danger.

13:50 – Samatian
SAMATIAN appears to have improved this season, presumably benefiting from a breathing operation during the summer, and the return to this trip could help eke out a little more. He made a winning reappearance at Stratford last month and was well supported to follow up but a mistake at a crucial stage had an impact. He remains fairly treated, though, and is taken to give the in-form Kim Bailey yard a quick-fire double. Tiny Tantrum will be a threat provided he is ready to roll following a break and responds well to the addition of cheekpieces, while Sir Jack West is best of the rest.
14:20 – Never No Trouble
This is likely to develop into a straight fight between NEVER NO TROUBLE and Cabayo Lady, given that Ramure and Taylors Three Rock both return to action with serious questions marks surrounding them. Cabayo Lady did the job well when getting off the mark at Worcester and an 8 lb rise may not necessarily be enough to stop her. However, three-year-old Never No Trouble gets the nod on the back of an encouraging handicap debut in this sphere and armed with a handy weight-for-age allowance.

ASA shaped with encouragement when finishing third in a five-runner event at Toulouse in her native France in June and that performance just about sets the standard of those with experience. She has since joined a very capable yard and the booking of Brian Hughes may be a sign of intent. Next on the list is Lechro, who probably wouldn’t need to improve much on her near miss on hurdling debut in order to go close again here, while Fillyfudge could be the pick of the trio making their debuts in this sphere.
15:20 – Lusaka
The Olly Murphy-trained LUSAKA has been expensive to follow since joining this yard earlier in the year, finishing runner-up on his last three starts though it was his jumping which let him down when beaten at odds-on at Plumpton last time. The winner of that race has gone in again since and Lusaka may not get many more better opportunities than this to open his account in this sphere. Order of St John can follow him home.
15:50 – Just the Man
JUST THE MAN’s last win came at Ludlow last season and he has now fallen back down to that mark so he is handicapped to strike. He has been running creditably in more competitive handicaps than this recently and he has to come under serious consideration here. The Brian Hughes-ridden Clearance could be the one for the forecast spot.
