13:10 – Mister Coffey

MISTER COFFEY is quite experienced for a novice and he has some very good form in the book too. He finished runner-up three times last season, notably in a Grade 1 at Kempton and in the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival. He was strong in the betting on his final start in the Topham at Aintree, but didn’t manage to give his supporters a run for their money on his first try over the National fences. There should be more to come from him this season and this looks a good opportunity for him to open his account in this sphere. Haute Estime and Bardenstown Lad both look promising and can give him most to think about.

13:45 – Edwardstone

This looks a potential match between Arkle winner EDWARDSTONE and high-class chaser Nube Negra. The former completed a five-timer when winning the Arkle before meeting with defeat on his final start at Aintree, but he left the impression that he was feeling a long, hard season and he is expected to get back on the up on his return. Nube Negra won this race on his return 12 months ago and seems sure to put up a fight for an in-form yard.

14:20 – Fantastikas

FANTASTIKAS impressed with his jumping when making a winning debut over fences at Lingfield last season and he performed with credit behind some nice types in graded company on his next two starts. He was fancied for the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival but he failed to improve as expected, and he possibly found the race coming too soon when pulled up at Ayr when last seen. He returns on a workable mark and is the type to pull out more this season. Eva’s Oskar should be all the better for his reappearance Kelso sixth and is feared most.

14:55 – Gin Coco

Harry Fry landed a big handicap on the Flat last weekend and might be able to land another nice prize here courtesy of GIN COCO, who surely has more to come after only five career starts. He made the most of a good opportunity when resuming winning ways at Newton Abbot last month and that should have put him spot on for this. He is potentially well treated. Irish raiders Thousand Tears, who is having his first hurdle outing for Emmet Mullins, and Dads Lad, a chase winner here at the October meeting, head the many possible dangers along with Alan King’s Harbour Lake.

15:30 – Springwell Bay

SPRINGWELL BAY looked something out of the ordinary when making a winning start for these connections in a bumper at Market Rasen around this time last year and he again looked an exciting prospect when scoring on his hurdles debut on return at Carlisle last month. That race was run at a slow tempo which means the bare form can’t be rated too highly, but that shouldn’t detract anything away from the potential of Springwell Bay who proved in a different league to his rivals, and he is up to making his mark at this level. Iberico Lord was picked up by top connections after winning a French bumper so he has to be respected.

16:00 – Notnowned

NOTNOWNED sets the standard and looks open to further improvement having eased clear unchallenged at Bellewstown last time out. He hung a little to his left in the closing stages but had plenty in hand and he looks an exciting prospect. Crambo is a big danger as he bids to defend an unbeaten record and Roger Pol warrants consideration after a pleasing Rules bow at Worcester. Several others have feasible claims, also in an interesting bumper.
