ITV Saturday gets under way here with a Grade 2 novices’ chase over 2m. This is a belter. MONMIRAL has always looked a chasing type but lacks experience of fences. That said, he has the best hurdling form of this lot and I’ll take the chance he can make a winning chase debut. His second to Epatante in the Aintree Hurdle is superb form and he was a Grade 1 winner as a juvenile. Going for the in form Paul Nicholls stable is no bad thing and Harry Cobden is on top.

14:20 Cheltenham – French Dynamite
The feature and awesome Paddy Power Gold Cup Handicap Chase over 2m4f. I’m not being original here, but FRENCH DYNAMITE must have a great chance with a bit of luck. Let’s get to the positives about my hope. Firstly, the seven-year-old is lightly raced for Mouse Morris with a good win record of six victories from fifteen starts.
Secondly, the mount of Darragh O’Keeffe – in need of a welcome winner – has tackled Grade 1 company in the past with a fine fourth behind Klassical Dream in the Stayers’ Hurdle at Punchestown in 2021. Yet he also had the pace to score over two and a quarter miles in March of this year.
But thirdly, and most importantly because I’m not sure everyone will pick up on it, despite often being a front-runner French Dynamite has form figures of 11413 when facing pace pressure and tackling fields of more than ten runners.
That suggests Morris’s charge will be very well suited to the competitive nature of a Paddy Power Gold Cup. His running style will hopefully allow him to keep out of trouble up front, and while he’s not massively experienced over fences a third at Punchestown behind El Barra makes me believe he will cope just fine. A mark of 148 also seems workable as he was rated 150 over hurdles for a few runs.
Quite simply, with luck in running French Dynamite must have every chance.

14:35 Lingfield – Judicial
ITV also head to the all-weather Saturday for this Listed event over 6f. Old boy JUDICIAL has a few pounds to find at the weights with some of these but has a great draw to blast out from and might be hard to kick out the frame at least for Jim Crowley and Julie Camacho.
14:55 Cheltenham – Lisnagar Oscar
This is a handicap hurdle over 3m. If LISNAGAR OSCAR is ever going to bounce back to form then this is the chance to do it. He’s up against quite a few chasers going back hurdling here and is down to a very workable mark of 142. The former Stayers’ Hurdle winner was in terrible form when last seen but with his rider taking off 7lb he effectively goes here off 135 which is too low not to have a few quid eachway at huge prices for Rebecca Curtis.

15:10 Lingfield – Bolshoi Ballet
Now the Listed Churchill Stakes over 1m2f. Amazing to think BOLSHOI BALLET was sent off at 11-8 to win the Derby at Epsom landed by Adayar! He did score as Grade 1 at Belmont Park after that, but has disappointing since. This is a chance to bounce back for Aidan O’Brien and Seamie Heffernan. Stall 6 looks ideal.
15:30 Cheltenham – Wisguy
Here’s a handicap hurdle over 2m5f. WISEGUY is very interesting off 119 for Nicky Henderson and Nico de Boinville. My hope is very likely a improver this term and looked a strong stayer as a novice. I’d not be at all surprised if he was very well in here even if he does lack experience and a run this season.
