Dundalk 17:15 Maritime Rules

He wasn’t cheap for new connections who paid 36,000 guineas for him at the horses in training sale in July. Has been given plenty of time to settle into his new surroundings and all the equipment goes on tonight with the application of blinkers and a tongue tie. The deciding factor for me is Maritime Rules returns to what could be his ideal distance of 6 furlongs. It’s his first try for the new team and it could be a winning one.

Wolverhampton 18:30 – Danger Alert

George Boughey’s runner went too hard up on the front end under heavy conditions at Doncaster last time. That was  just six days ago and it’s interesting that the team back him up so quickly off that effort and step him up to 7f as well. They look to have found a good opportunity for Danger Alert as there is just five runners in the line-up. He may well just get to pop along in front this time under no pressure.

Dundalk 18:45 – Ceallach

Comes in with a pretty decent all weather record and doesn’t look anywhere near his ceiling rating at the moment off a mark of just 80. Ceallach was returning off a 108-daybreak last time when just failing behind stablemate, Golden Twilight. He arguably didn’t quite get the rub of  the green and had to squeeze through a tiny gap before finishing well. Michael Halford always does well at this venue with his runners.

Wolverhampton 19:30 – Borgi

Won quite smoothly on his racecourse debut at Southwell and has continued to run well in defeat afterwards at Lingfield. He was well punted prior to finishing second at Newcastle last time and steps into a handicap on a very realistic, looking rating of 78. The extra half furlong should not be an inconvenience judging by the way Borgi hit the line last time against Quantico who’s now rated 87 and is well regarded.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Dundalk 19:45 – Rockview Roman

John McConnell’s runner has a better profile on a synthetic surface and is a pervious course winner. He looks to have slotted down to a very attractive mark of just 51 and Rockview Roman’s two wins so far at this venue have been over the extended 1m 2f. He looks as if he should stay the extra 300 yards tonight and the yard are operating at a 50 per cent strike rate with their last four runners at Dundalk.

Wolverhampton 20:30 – City Escape

Ran an absolute stormer last time at this venue over a furlong shorter after a pretty big layoff from July. Mark Loughnane looks to have been prepped him ideally for this contest just 13 days after that reappearance. The young lad on top claiming 7lbs, Billy Loughnane, is looking for his first win under Rules after being very successful on the pony racing circuit. This could be his big day to shine on City Escape for the rider and get that elusive first victory on the board.
