Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
The only runner coming here on the back of a half-decent effort is Vanderbilt and yet he’s hardly bet material with him yet to win in 60 career starts. A tentative nod goes in the direction of VISION CLEAR, who was odds-on for one of these races when falling midrace last November and he wouldn’t have enjoyed the heavy ground when reappearing on the Flat only recently. True Romance might be the danger.
He needs to leave last month’s low-key seasonal debut behind but, with his usual cheekpieces refitted, ROADWARRIOR is taken to secure a second C&D success. Creative Control has shown enough promise on his first two chasing starts to suggest he can win over fences soon but it could be significant that Brian Hughes has switched to James Ewart’s new recruit Heroique De Maulde, who was a dual chase winner in France last year.
Despite an absence since March, the consistent BETTY BALOO makes most appeal, having run well in a much stronger contest when last seen. Belvedere Blast has some issues with hurdling but his Uttoxeter effort 13 days ago makes him next best.
There are some interesting newcomers due to line up here and the market should be revealing regarding their prospects but a few of these have already shown ability, not least Perdika following her two wins on Tapeta last month. She is likely to do her best again but she has to concede at least a stone to each of her rivals, some of whom have also shown promise. Densetsu (second choice) and Sophia’s Starlight both fit that description, but the vote goes to MAGGIE’S WAY who finished clear of the third when narrowly beaten at Kempton last month. Any further improvement on that would give her every chance.
