13:15 – Sam’s Choice

SAM’S CHOICE was below his best when a distant third at Galway last time but he was up against a couple of decent prospects and faces a more straightforward assignment here. Sam’s Choice was beaten only half a length at Downpatrick on his penultimate start and that form sets a good standard for his rivals to aim at.

13:50 – Gege Ville

Nicky Richards has his string in excellent order at present and he can register another winner with Gege Ville. GEGE VILLE attracted support on his bumper debut here last year and he looked a good prospect as he scored in cosy style, making smooth headway from rear under a confident ride.

14:25 – Green Vault

GREEN VAULT fared well in handicap hurdles last season, winning two of his three starts in that company, and he proved better than ever to make a winning debut over fences in a novice handicap chase at Hexham last month. Green Vault impressed with how he moved through that contest and he was well on top at the finish, pulling three and three-quarter lengths clear. That was a promising start over fences and there should be more to come in this sphere, so Green Vault looks up to defying this 5 lb rise in the weights.

14:55 – Grand Voyage

GRAND VOYAGE progressed well over hurdles, winning his final two starts in that sphere, and he made an encouraging start over fences when runner-up in a novice chase at Carlisle last month. Grand Voyage, who benefitted from securing first run under an enterprising ride, was flattered to finish within half a length of the very useful winner So Scottish, but he showed enough there to suggest he’s well up to defying this BHA mark of 119. He can put that chasing experience to good use and get off the mark over fences.

15:25 – Hard Iron

HARD IRON didn’t offer a great deal in three starts in maiden and novice company, but he showed improved form to strike on his handicap debut over this course and distance last month. Hard Iron was stepping up in trip on that occasion and was clearly suited by the extra emphasis on stamina, running on well after the last to score by four and a quarter lengths. He was well on top at the finish there, so a 7 lb rise in the weights may not be enough to stop him following up, especially with the Nicky Richards yard in such good form.

15:55 – Charm Offensive

CHARM OFFENSIVE ended last season on the up, registering back-to-back victories at this venue, enhancing a fine record here. Charm Offensive had finished runner-up on her three previous outings over hurdles at Ayr and can be relied upon to give another good account. She also appeals as being on a fair mark after going up only 4 lb for her latest success.
