12:50 – Alien Storm
ALIEN STORM displayed ability in bumpers and opened his account in good style on hurdling debut at Plumpton three weeks ago, jumping better as the race wore on and showing a good turn of foot from the second-last. That was just an ordinary race but he had plenty in hand and may be up to defying a penalty, though any notable support for likely-looking hurdling debutant Attacca should be noted given connections.

13:25 – Stormy Flight
This looks an interesting race with several interesting chase debutants on show, but STORMY FLIGHT showed an aptitude for chasing on his debut in this sphere at Chepstow 12 months ago and he looks the percentage call back in this sphere. That race worked out very well and he should come on for a recent spin over hurdles at Ffos Las two weeks ago. Blackcauseway and Dalamoi are less exposed and look most interesting of the chase debutants.
14:00 – Twig
This looks a good opportunity for TWIG to open his account over hurdles. He is a multiple winner in points and has also won a couple of hunter chases and a novice handicap chase under Rules, and he ran a very good race when runner-up to a useful Paul Nicholls horse in a novice hurdle at Cheltenham last time. He looked more straightforward on his first try over hurdles and is well up to winning a race of this nature which lacks depth.
14:35 – Haddex Des Obeaux
HADDEX DES OBEAUX won two of his four starts over hurdles and he showed something to work on sent chasing after 12 months off at Newton Abbot 23 days ago. He was still going well in front when making a bad mistake four out but that appeared to knock the stuffing out of him and he looked settled for third when producing a tired leap and unseating his rider at the final fence. He is entitled to come forward for that outing both fitness and experience wise, while this longer trip should help, too. Frere d’Armes is sure to be well prepared for this chase debut and is a threat.
15:05 – Jay Bee Why
JAY BEE WHY has a good record when fresh and is appealing back from a break off a reduced mark. He was beaten eight and a halft lengths when third to Dorking Boy over course and distance in April but meets that rival on 9 lb better terms this time and can reverse the form for a yard that had a good winner at Wincanton on Saturday. Dorking Boy should make his presence felt despite the handicapper’s attention but the selection may have most to fear from the Nicky Henderson-trained duo, Call Me Lord and Captain Morgs.
15:35 – Tweed Skirt
The ones with experience don’t set an exacting standard in this mares’ handicap chase so it can go to a debutante and the one who makes the most appeal is the Nicky Henderson-trained TWEED SKIRT. She was a winner in bumpers and opened her account over hurdles around this time last year and, while she didn’t progress as expected in that sphere, she is a good-topped sort who is expected to make her mark over fences on the back of a wind operation. Uncanver is another interesting chase debutante who has a good record when fresh.

16:05 – Overpriced Mixer
OVERPRICED MIXER showed enough on his comeback run in a higher-grade handicap than this at Plumpton to suggest that plenty of ability remains intact and, back at the scene of his sole previous success in this sphere, he may be the the way to go. Get Back Get Back will be a threat if he puts in a clean round of jumping, while First Quest and Thahab Ifraj are others to consider.
