11:50 – Nightout
NIGHTOUT is progressing well and he produced his best effort yet when third in a six-furlong novice at Pontefract last month. Nightout impressed with how strongly he travelled through that race, moving best of all, but he possibly did too much too soon from the worst of the draw and he found a couple stronger inside the final furlong. He heads back into handicap company on a fair mark and can get register a first success.

12:20 – Nine Tenths
NINE TENTHS boasts an eye-catching pedigree, being by Kodiac and out of a half-sister to the very smart Sceptical, and she fetched 300,000 guineas as a yearling. She is in excellent hands with William Haggas and could be up to making a winning debut.
12:50 – Commanche Falls
COMMANCHE FALLS had an excellent campaign last term, winning four times, including in the Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood. He produced a smart performance to make it back-to-back victories in the Stewards’ Cup in July and he has remained in excellent order since, finishing placed in a competitive handicap at York, the Ayr Gold Cup and the Group 3 Bengough Stakes at Ascot. He tops Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings on these terms.
13:30 – Sweet Believer
SWEET BELIEVER enjoyed a productive campaign last term, winning on three occasions, and she has produced a couple of excellent efforts in defeat on her two starts this term. Sweet Believer was second behind Bayside Boy on her reappearance in a listed race at Sandown and that rival gave the form a boost by winning the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Champions Day. Sweet Believer ran a cracker herself on Champions Day to finish runner-up in the Balmoral Handicap and that form places her at least 6 lb clear of her rivals at the head of Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings.
14:05 – Molaqab
MOLAQAB, a 150,000 guineas son of Zoustar, is taken to make a winning start for William Haggas. Haggas, who won both divisions of this maiden last season, has his string in good order at present and the horses with experience here don’t set a high standard.

14:39 – Young Fire
YOUNG FIRE is on a long losing run that stretches back to July of last year but he has been cut some slack by the handicapper and produced a creditable effort in defeat when fourth over this course and distance a couple of weeks ago. Young Fire had been disappointing on his two previous outings, but he got back on the right track last time, looking unlucky not to finish closer after meeting trouble in running. He’s on a competitive mark and this race should be run at a strong gallop which will suit.
15:13 – Israr
ISRAR has an excellent pedigree – he’s by Muhaarar and out of Oaks winner Taghrooda – and he has progressed well this term, looking like a Group-race performer when bolting up in a handicap over this course and distance a couple of weeks ago. Israr impressed with how he moved through that race before readily quickening three and three-quarter lengths clear, and a 7 lb rise might not be enough to stop this well-bred colt who looks destined for bigger things.
15:45 – Zip
ZIP has tumbled in the weights this season to such an extent that he is 11 lb lower than when last successful at Musselburgh last year. He’s been in decent form of late, however, and was beaten less than half a length in fourth over this course and distance a couple of weeks ago. It’s also worth noting that Zip won this prize in 2020.
