Wincanton 12:40 – Wynn House

There are lots of the west country trainers involved in this race in memory of Richard Barber and the favourite is Lady Adare, trained by Harry Fry, who Barber was a mentor to. He will have Lady Adare revved up for this. She has to give weight away to Wynn House though, who won the race last year. Wynn House races off the same mark and she has won first time out for the last two seasons. This is the time to catch her.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Aintree 13:01 – Remastered

Remastered, a son of Network, has had a wind operation and his profile is pretty good. He was third in this race last year and he races off a 1lb lower mark and has to be involved. He is not the choice of stable jockey Tom Scudamore but he would not be the first or last jockey to choose wrong!

PICK 5 SATURDAY WINNERS AND 50 GRAND COULD BE YOURS

Wincanton 13:15 – McFabulous

It is hard to get away from McFabulous here. He is the top rated and looks the type to do well over fences.

Wincanton 13:50 – Frodon & Cap Du Nord (each-way)

I’m torn between Frodon at the top of the weights and Cap Du Nord. Frodon is a class act. Remember last year on this day he beat Galvin in a Grade 1 at Down Royal! He has dropped in the weights, plus the ground is fine for him. He has also won first time out in three of the last four years.

I just worry that he is giving a lot of weight away. He has to give a 26lbs to Cap Du Nord, who looked rusty at Chepstow. I feel this valuable prize will be attractive to connections. He was fourth in the race last year too and it could set up lovely for him.

Aintree 14:11 – Lifetime Ambition

Jessie Harrington is a brilliant trainer and she can train both sprinters and jumpers alike. Lifetime Ambition is just out of his novice season and he was placed at Grade 1 level over fences and also won a Grade 3. He is the selection but the saver will be Gesskille to ‘place’. This son of Network was a winner for this in-form team at Auteuil, which is the top jumps track in France. He could be sneaky here.

Down Royal 14:32 – Galvin

Davy Russell is on board and he knows Galvin inside out. He has some really good form and got narrowly beaten by Frodon last year. He looked as good as ever when winning at Punchestown three weeks ago. His stablemate Conflated could be the biggest danger. He won the Paddy Power Gold Cup at the Dublin Racing Festival last season before his form tailed off.

Aintree 14:45 – Brewinupastorm

Olly Murphy nearly pulled it off last weekend with Thomas Darby in the bet365 Hurdle at Wetherby and he will be hoping that Brewinupastorm’s love affair with Aintree continues. He looked really good when winning this race last year and I see no reason why he won’t win again, especially as he’s had a wind operation.

Wincanton 15:00 – Sceau Royal

It’s hard to get away from a runner that has a love affair with fast ground and this track so Sceau Royal gets the nod. He looked as good as ever when winning at Kempton in a time that was six seconds faster than that recorded by a 122 rated horse on the same card. He was 18 seconds faster than the Juvenile Hurdle on the same day also.

Mick Fitzgerald’s Saturday selections:

Wincanton 12:40 – Wynn House
Aintree 13:01 – Remastered
Wincanton 13:15 – McFabulous
Wincanton 13:50 – Frodon & Cap Du Nord (each way)
Aintree 14:11 – Lifetime Ambition
Down Royal 14:32 – Galvin
Aintree 14:45 – Brewinupastorm
Wincanton 15:00 – Sceau Royal
