17:00 – Greek Flower

A 5f maiden to open the card where Greek Flower should be suited by the trip. Her form ties in with Aurora Nova where she got no luck behind that one at Down Royal. She won a barrier trail at Dundalk also and looks primed to win.

17:30 – Zileo

A 1m 4f apprentice handicap is up next where the top-weight Adamaris is interesting but hasn’t run winning here over 2m in January and is best watched. Firstman and Extensio (who won the Ladies Derby at the Curragh) are players as is Noel Meade’s Too Bright with Dylan Brown McMonagle booked to ride. I’ll take a flyer on Mick Halford’s Zileo under Mikey Sheedy and ran fourth here off a mark of 90 a year ago. His runs on grass weren’t great but a return to the this surface off a mark of 72 is a very interesting runner and is an each-way selection.

18:00 – Sweetest Rose

The 7f Fillies maiden has been divided and Aidan O’Brien’s Beginnings will probably head the market under Seamie Hefferenan. She’s well bred and while she finished fourth on debut over 6f, the second and third have won since to frank the form. The Dundalk surface and step up to 7f should help but I’m happy to watch here this time. Sweetest Rose ran very well at the Curagh on debut and you can put a line through her last run on Irish Champions weekend. She’s the selection and keep an eye on her stablemate Cooler as a work in progress.

18:30 – Wedding Bouquet

Dermot Weld’s Tanaiyla sets the standard on a rating of 80 where plenty of these are making their debuts. However, Wedding Bouquet showed enough for me on debut when finishing seventh to suggest she’ll improve a lot for that run. She’s a nice draw in stall two and could be open to more improvement.

Dundalk

19:00 – Bertinelli

Bertinelli looks the one to beat after finishing second on debut for Ballydoyle. There was a bit of chat about him that day – despite being the second string – and it’s hard to see beyond him now. Mick Halford’s Shanadar could be one to track over the next few runs.

19:30 – Juncture

Mehnah was a very good winner here off a maiden race and has a big chance in the one mile stakes race which is the feature contest on Friday’s card. A stalls draw in 14 hasn’t been kind to her and in first-time blinkers, from stall six, I fancy Juncture as she drops back to the mile trip. Surrounding could be one for the places.

20:00 – Cordouan

A one-mil handicap where Adrian McGuinness has two strong chances in Cordouan and Pierre Lapin where Cordouan is still unexposed in Ireland and could be open to more improvement. Walhaan gets plenty of weight off these and can run into the places.

20:30 – Miss Abby Jools

We end on Friday with a mile handicap where a couple of these have done us a favour in the past, naely Zonik and Miss Abby Jools at the head of the weights. Elabella could be a player if getting a freebie up front but Zonik and Miss Abby Jools look the principals. I just favour Miss Abby Jools who has had a nice gap between runs whereas Zonik tries to back up last week’s win which is not easy.
