12:42 – Lady Babs

Conor Rabbitt looks a positive booking for LADY BABS and the pair can prevail in a tricky race of its type. Silkstone, narrowly beaten over C&D in September, may prove the biggest danger, with bottom-weight Tuff McCool, C&D winner Lord Caprio and the hat-trick-seeking Misty Mani also shortlisted.

13:12 – Jipekaa Machin

This should not take much winning, and if JIPEKAA MACHIN can repeat the form of his third placings in France he could get off the mark. The Churchill Lad carries a 7lb penalty but nonetheless looks the chief threat, ahead of hurdling debutant Wakey Wakey.

13:47 – Fiston Du Mou

A wind operation could galvanise Byzantium Lad, while Touch Kick hinted at a revival at Carlisle last time and Baron De Midleton should be sharper for a recent hurdle run. Dragonfruit (second choice) won first time out last season and Chanting Hill represents a stable amongst the winners, but FISTON DU MOU isn’t fully exposed and this looks more suitable than the competitive Cheltenham handicap he contested 13 days ago.

14:20 – Quiet Flow

Most of the field have something to recommend them. Rocco Storm (second choice) won easily at Hexham last month and is open to further progress over fences. Cash Again, Aire Valley Lad and Esme Shelby enter calculations but QUIET FLOW showed a bit more here last month and he could yet deliver on his early bumper promise.

14:55 – Thermusa

The most appealing profile belongs to THERMUSA, a clearcut winner here last month and open to plenty of improvement. Anti Bridgie and Sweet Auburn are likeliest to cash in if the selection fluffs her lines, with slight preference for the former.

15:35 – Masked Crusader

Not a bad race of its type and several in the field could be ahead of their marks. East Street looks the sort to make a better chaser than hurdler and should go well if ready to roll after a break, while Half Shot was impressive over C&D last month and may have even more to offer. The consistent Fever Roque jumped soundly bar a first-fence blunder on his chasing debut ten days ago and is tempting, but at the other end of the weights MASKED CRUSADER gets the vote. He gave the impression he had plenty more in the tank when winning his last two races over hurdles and could blossom as a chaser.

16:05 – Doireann

The hat-trick-seeking Boomtime Banker is edging up the weights only slowly and could go in again but she meets a serious rival in DOIREANN (nap). Stuart Edmunds’ lightly raced 5yo has two pieces of form from last winter that suggest she can win a race of this nature, and she’s selected to make a successful return from wind surgery. Stable switchers Humps And Bumps and Le Fou’s Keep are others to consider.
