13:07 – Rickety Gate (NAP)

Top of the list is the Nicky Richards-trained RICKETY GATE (NAP), who justified favouritism at Kelso on his return last month. He’s 9lb higher from out of the weights here but he forged clear to beat his two main market rivals last time and is a big player again if he can back that up at this new trip. The main threat could come from Blakeney Point, who won over this trip at Bangor in August and travelled strongly for a long way before his effort flattened out over an extended 3m1f last time.

13:37 – Noble Anthem

This looks likely to be between the dual runner-up My Brother Jack and the useful Flat performer NOBLE ANTHEM. In the hope that he can transfer his ability from the other code to hurdles, the latter is selected. Soleil De Cannes can probably chase them home.

14:07 – General Officer

Point winner GENERAL OFFICER was a promising third on his bumper debut at Carlisle three weeks ago and is taken to make a winning start over hurdles. Harel Du Marais has travelled from Northern Ireland and is feared most, ahead of Sanosuke.

14:37 – Obey The Rules

Brian Hughes’s mount OBEY THE RULES was going well in front when the race was voided at Bangor last week and he’s the selection ahead of Follow Your Fire, who had moved into a threatening position in that same race. Recent Carlisle scorer Check My Pulse and last year’s winner Izzy’s Champion are other likely players.

15:07 – Massini Man

Sandy Thomson does well with recruits from other yards and MASSINI MAN is taken to make a winning stable and seasonal debut, having shown some consistent form early this year. Of the three last-time-out winners perhaps Mac Suibhne will be the main danger, although Living’s Boy An Co also impressed when winning his most recent outing.

15:37 – Stylish Moment

Court Dreaming is a tempting option having stayed on well to win over 3m at stiff Carlisle last time out, but good ground seems ideal and he’s likely to encounter a slower surface here. STYLISH MOMENT also finished strongly for a close third in that same Carlisle race and is another who could have untapped potential over marathon trips. His stablemate Rapid Raider stays well and has won here and is second choice, although Wake Up Early could also have a big say in this open race.

16:07 – Whizz Kid

As a free-going sort over further, Holmes St Georges looks worth a try over this trip and could go well. However, the more battle-hardened Wild Shot may give the selection WHIZZ KID the most to do. Richard Newland’s runner has shown he can win when fresh and a repeat of his April Aintree run may well prove good enough.
