13:00 – Charles St
It’s a close call between CHARLES ST and Victory for bragging rights on the Flat, and they make the most appeal with no obvious stamina issues for this new discipline. Romancero Le Dun would be interesting if he’s at all strong in the market.

13:30 – Everyonesgame
Several of these should pay their way under rules. With his bumper form right up there and a good run over hurdles under his belt, EVERYONESGAME makes plenty of appeal. Etalon shaped really nicely behind respected opposition in his bumper and he rates the main threat ahead of Egbert.
14:05 – Stage Star
On the back of a good weekend for his yard, Grade 1-winning hurdler STAGE STAR is taken to banish the memory of his two flops at last season’s festivals and make a winning start over fences. West Cork held his own in some hot handicap hurdles and, with a pointing background, he promises to be every bit as good in this discipline. Not that Skytastic and Interne De Sivola are dismissed lightly in an intriguing contest.
14:40 – Storm Hill
This is very open. Last year’s winner Opening Bid must make the shortlist off a 9lb lower mark this time but he’s up against a few likely improvers on their handicap debuts. STORM HILL falls into that category off what looks a nice opening mark and Brian Hughes is booked. Jaramillo is next best.
15:15 – Boughtbeforelunch
Favori De Sivola (second choice) and Reilly should both run well but BOUGHTBEFORELUNCH (nap) looks to have as good a chance as any on a course he runs well. Fairlawn Flyer’s claims will be boosted if the ground is testing, while these fences will test the jumping technique of Guetapan Collonges.
15:45 – Hawthorn Cottage
It was good to see Fairway Freddy follow one good run with another when second at Plumpton and, now 2lb lower, he should threaten again if continuing his good work. However, the return of cheekpieces is probably no bad thing for HAWTHORN COTTAGE and she could be too well handicapped for all of these if rediscovering her form. Horizon D’Ainay is the dark one.

16:20 – Stowaway Jess
Spring Note is from the family of the stable’s classy jumper Oscar Whisky and she’s not the only newcomer of interest. Passing Reflection has already run well in a bumper but STOWAWAY JESS could be up to defying a penalty for her Southwell success. That was fairly impressive and, having gone off at a shade of odds-on, nor was it unexpected.
