12:20 – Flight Plan
Flight Plan, a 150,000 guineas son of Night of Thunder, was well backed on debut at Leicester a few weeks ago but he ran green and shaped like he would be better for the experience. Flight Plan was only fifth in that warm-looking novice but he offered something to work on and is entitled to be sharper for the outing. He could prove a different proposition here.

12:50 – Overrule
Overrule, like Flight Plan in the opener, cost a six-figure sum and shaped with promise on his debut for Karl Burke. Overrule, a 100,000 guineas son of New Bay, showed up well for a long way on his debut at Doncaster 11 days ago, forcing a good gallop before fading into fourth. That was a promising start and, with that run under his belt, he should be able to sustain his challenge for longer.
13:20 – Cantora
Cantora didn’t show much in a trio of six-furlong novices but she produced a much-improved effort to score on her handicap debut in a seven-furlong nursery at Leicester last week and should be tough to beat under a 6 lb penalty. Cantora has plenty of stamina on the dam’s side of her pedigree and she relished the step up in trip to seven furlongs at Leicester, pulling two and three-quarter lengths clear after being produced to lead approaching the final furlong. That effort showed she’s a long way clear of her mark and she should benefit from this further step up in trip.
13:55 – Bashful
Bashful probably would have given the winner something to think about at Ayr last time had he not been denied a clear run over two furlongs out, but he kept on nicely to finish runner-up. That effort showed Bashful is back in decent form and entitles him to strong claims in this seller. The application of a visor for the first time might also help.
14:30 – Kapono
Kapono cashed in on a falling mark when successful in a six-furlong apprentice handicap here last week and he can follow up off the same mark here. Kapono got a dream run up the far rail and was seen to maximum effect, but he still deserves credit for pulling four and a quarter lengths clear of the runner-up. Kapono escapes a penalty as that was a race restricted to apprentice riders – Jonny Peate is aboard again but can claim 5 lb this time – and the step up to seven furlongs will be no problem as he has already won over the trip.
15:05 – Millebosc
Millebosc has been below his best in three starts this season, but it’s worth remembering that he showed smart form last year, notably finishing third in the French Derby. He has joined William Haggas since last seen at Chantilly in July and is a fascinating runner on his yard and handicap debut. He could prove too good for these if recapturing his best form.

15:35 – Captain Haddock
Captain Haddock is on a losing run of 12 that stretches back to August of last year, but he has been given a chance by the handicapper and ran well when runner-up at Newbury ten days ago. Captain Haddock was no match for a thriving mare, but he comfortably proved best of the rest and is clearly on a handy mark. He’s edged up 1 lb since that Newbury effort but is still 8 lb below his last winning mark.
16:05 – Do I Dream
Do I Dream shaped very well when runner-up at Thirsk three starts ago, doing her best work at the finish and looking unlucky not to win. She has had excuses on both starts since, finding herself further back than ideal, but she still gives the impression that she’s on a handy mark when everything clicks and this is a lower grade than the race she contested last time.
