12:50 – Grove Road
This looks a fair race with a quartet of point winners and a bumper scorer in opposition and GROVE ROAD’s game success at Sedgefield 11 months ago is the easiest form to weigh up. He is bred to relish this step up in trip now sent hurdling and he may be the one to side with. The market will reveal plenty, but Regarde and The King of Ryhope look a couple of likely dangers.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
13:25 – Iron Bridge
Most of these should take to this sphere but the unbeaten IRON BRIDGE looks the one who could still be ahead of his mark. The race he won at Worcester when last seen in April wasn’t the strongest but there was plenty to like about the manner of his victory and he appeals as the type who will relish fences. Viva Lavilla, Donny Boy and Bold Endeavour head many potential dangers in a race which it could pay to keep an eye on moving forward.
13:58 – Serious Ego
An interesting handicap with a chance taken on SERIOUS EGO. He went winless in six starts last term but his mark has fallen as a result and, returning with his yard amongst the winners, he could well be up to making a bold bid. Where’s Hector, on return and handicap debut, recent course and distance scorer Wor Verge and Lovely Moon, for another in-form stable, head up the dangers.
14:30 – Beauport
A fascinating race and a strong event for the grade. BEAUPORT developed into a smart hurdler last season and is favoured by the weights if taking to chasing at the first attempt, and he looks like a horse who can raise his game further in this sphere. Similar comments apply to Bear Ghylls but he has a long absence to defy, while Millers Bank won a Grade 1 novice chase at Aintree last season and was rather unfortunate on his comeback last week.

15:05 – Good Risk At All
There should be plenty more to come from second-season hurdler GOOD RISK AT ALL, who wasn’t at his best in a Grade 1 at Aintree when last seen, but now back in handicap company, his mark looks very workable for a yard that continue to impress. Fresh could be the time to catch Wholestone and he is feared, though a market move for talented chaser Silver Hallmark would look significant.
15:40 – Seven No Trumps
In a race where the fitness of the vast majority has to be taken on trust the suggestion is SEVEN NO TRUMPS, who is unexposed for a leading stable that had a great day on Saturday and leaves the impression this sort of stamina test will suit him. Morning Spirit will be a danger if back to the level he showed when second in a big field at Exeter last December. Houston Texas scored twice here at the beginning of the year and is another to consider.
16:13 – Fuji Rocks
Fergal O’Brien took this with the useful Karl Philippe a couple of years ago and might so again courtesy of FUJI ROCKS, who was well backed on his debut at Perth last month and shaped with plenty of promise, his inexperience evident and probably costing him the race. That experience won’t be lost on him and he represents an in-form yard who have a good record in this sphere. Benny Silver and Perculator can give him most to do.
