16:58 Dakota Elegance

It’s impossible to make a watertight case for any of these but several of them have potential. Butterfly Effect has had excuses since a promising debut, while Starmas and So Chic (second choice) may not have handled the soft ground at Nottingham last time having previously shaped well on the AW. However, a chance is taken with topweight DAKOTA ELEGANCE, who is bred to show some improvement now stepping up in distance.

17:30 Desert Dream

Today’s return to Tapeta won’t be a problem for DESERT DREAM, who won on turf two starts ago and scores high marks for his consistency this year. He gets the vote ahead of Twentysharesofgrey, who has slipped to a workable mark. Fact Or Fable and Cailin Saoirse also have possibilities.

18:00 Say Grace

Slate Cracker should be up to winning a similar event but he hasn’t fared well with the draw today. Chifa and the admirable Peachey Carnehan (second choice) boast fair claims but SAY GRACE bumped into an improver over C&D 12 days ago and she can defy top weight.

18:30 Lady Of Arabia

There was plenty to like about LADY OF ARABIA’s debut third over 7f here and she’s selected to make the most of the weight she receives from previous winner She’s Hot. The Johnstons’ newcomer Movie Night would very much come into it if the betting speaks in her favour, while Sexy Rexy didn’t figure on debut but was sent off at 5-2 so it’ll be interesting to see if there’s any strength behind her in the market again.

19:00 Cloch Nua (NAP)

Strong contenders are thick on the ground, including last-time winners Visibility, Belisa De Vega, Min Till and CLOCH NUA (nap). The last named has had a few defeats in AW handicaps at about this trip but he was a convincing winner at Newcastle recently and an earlier good effort at Lingfield shows he acts well round a bend. Visibility may be the biggest danger.

19:30 Meadram

Neither MEADRAM nor Kenilworth King distinguished themselves last time out but the former can go well fresh and he impressed when last seen on this surface 12 months ago. Kenilworth King likewise made a good impression here this month and perhaps his latest run in a higher grade since came too quickly. Hector’s Here has possibilities on his best course form and Mafia Power is not ruled out for his new yard.

20:00 Shades Of Summer

Clearly the top chances on form belong to SHADES OF SUMMER and Ischia, with the former readily preferred given that she is much more lightly raced and shaped well when she beat 14 of her 15 rivals at Windsor this month, a race in which she comfortably disposed of fourth-placed Fanciful. However, there could be a very big danger in the shape of Saeed Bin Suroor’s well-bred Wild Tiger, who makes a belated debut but must presumably have shown plenty of dash to have been declared originally for a maiden in June as a 2yo.

20:30 Gentle Fire

The step up to 1m4f is sure to suit bumper winner GENTLE FIRE and although she may need even further in due course she still looks interesting off a lowly mark on her handicap debut for an in-form yard. Recent turf winner Jackamundo looks the most dangerous of her rivals, with Order Of St John and All About Alice others with a good run in them.
