Horse Racing tips: Ruby Walsh’s fine fancies for Saturday’s ITV Racing

Ruby likes the look of Broomfield Burg in the 14:05 at Ascot on another fine day of Jumps action.

Ascot 13:30 – Goshen

Goshen is a good horse and I don’t have an issue with him going over fences. The problem is he has to give away plenty of weight. It’s hard to go against him but I’m not completely sold.

Wetherby 13:50 – Joe Dadancer

I’m going for the newcomer Joe Dadancer for Kielan Woods and Ben Pauling. He fell in his only start in a point-to-point but he was well clear before his fall. I’ll give him another chance.

    Ascot 14:05 – Broomfield Burg (each-way)

Anyharminasking beat Ellaat at Sedgefield last time out and he’s been given a 10lb rise. Did it look like a 10lb rise would stop him that day? Absolutely not. He’ll be hard to beat but it’s worth keeping an eye on Broomfield Burg, who finished third at Chepstow last week. He’s bound to have come on for that run.

Wetherby 14:25 – Nina The Terrier

Even though Molly Ollys Wishes won this race last year, I feel she wants further. I like Martello Sky but she needs more of a cut in the ground and I don’t know if she’ll get that. Therefore, I’m with Nina The Terrier. Her two disappointing runs last season were on testing ground and that won’t be the case at Wetherby.

    Ascot 14:40 – Monsieur Lecoq

Blinkers will be a big help for Monsieur Lecoq and he’s running off a mark lower than last year. He ran at Chepstow last week, finishing fourth out of five but he will have improved for that run.

    Wetherby 15:00 – Sporting John

Sporting John isn’t the most reliable but he is the one to be on. He impressed at the Cheltenham November meeting but then he failed to follow that up in December. He bounced back and won at Warwick in January though. It’s worth noting that Paul Nicholls’ runners are in fine form but I’m not sold on Threeunderthrufive in this one.

    Ascot 15:15 – Kittys Light

I’m going with Kittys Light for Christian Williams and Ellis Collier. He’s only a six-year-old and Ellis claims 6lbs off him too. Running off a rating of 125, he has to be competitive.

    Wetherby 15:35 – Bravemansgame

I’m a massive Ahoy Senor fan, but he improves with his races. I expect that to be the case here too. Bravemansgame is trained by Paul Nicholls, who has had eight winners from his last 27 runners in the past fortnight. The Nicholls’ horses are marginally more forward than Lucinda Russell’s runners. Wetherby’s flat track will suit Bravemansgame and he will be too quick for Ahoy Senor. Further down the line this season, Ahoy Senor could end up being the better horse but I fancy Bravemansgame to win the Charlie Hall Chase on Saturday.
