13:23 – Nonbinding

Hurdling debutants Glory Bridge (second choice) and Pats Dream should go well but NONBINDING sets a decent standard and the Irish challenger is selected to defy his penalty.

13:58 – Son of the Somme

Given his improvement towards the end of last season, Destiny Is All has to enter calculations. However, he faces a couple of interesting chasing newcomers in SON OF THE SOMME and Dedanser and the first-named, useful and progressive over hurdles last season, is preferred.

14:33 – Silver Flyer

If resuming last season’s progress, Wakool would hold strong claims. He is not dismissed lightly but slight preference is for handicap debutant SILVER FLYER, who promises to be suited by this step up in trip. Snookered may fare best of the others.

15:08 – Marown

Getaway Goldie is progressive over fences but this higher mark and shorter trip may conspire against her and preference is for MAROWN (NAP) and Buster Valentine in that order. Nicky Richards has his string in good form and his runner should be capable of going close, at the least, off his falling mark. Chasing debutant Readsteadybeau could be a threat if taking to fences.

15:43 – Shetland Tony

Several of these could be ahead of their marks, with Ginger Mail (second choice) and Traprain Law making their handicap debuts and Can’t Stop Now back over hurdles after surging back to form on the Flat in recent weeks. However, preference is for the 3yo SHETLAND TONY whose third in a big field of juveniles at Gowran suggests he can be competitive here with a handy weight-for-age allowance.

16:18 – Mackenberg

A wide-open event featuring a number of regular winners. The only one with a recent run is If Not For Dylan, and Andrew Hamilton’s course winner needs taking seriously, but the verdict goes to MACKENBERG who can get back on the upgrade following a hat-trick of successes early this year. None of the others can be safely ruled out, with Douglas Talking and Hasankey respected the most.

17:53 – Dunnet Head

No form to go on so the market could be enlightening, but on paper DUNNET HEAD and Largy Ray make plenty of appeal, with Heart Above third choice and Lucky Soldier also considered.
