13:03 -Ludmilla
The Gosden stable has hit the target pretty regularly with newcomers in recent weeks so the vote goes to LUDMILLA, with confidence increased should the betting vibes be strong. Safety Catch (second choice), whose stable has a good record in the race, Karsavina and Wantoplantatree are other likely types on paper in a novice where the market promises to be informative.

13:38 – Glowing Sky
The ones with experience have not looked out of the ordinary so far, and this may go to a newcomer. Orchid Bloom, Reconsider Me and Warren Hill (second choice) are all interesting on paper but the vote goes to GLOWING SKY, who was an expensive yearling and represents formidable connections. Her stablemate Medici Chapel, another choicely bred newcomer, completes the shortlist.
14:13 – In These Shoes
It’s hard to know whether a visor or heavy ground has been the bigger factor in Queen’s Eyot’s recent improvement. If it has been the latter then it might be worth opposing him as conditions are unlikely to be quite as testing this time. IN THESE SHOES could be the one to take him on with.
14:48 – Sir Laurance Graff
Most of these are intriguing and a close eye should be kept on lightly raced candidates such as Al Hargah and Roll It In Glitter. However, preference is for two with rather more experience. SIR LAURENCE GRAFF looked the probable winner at one late stage in his 1m2f maiden here ten days ago and shaped as if this test could suit him nicely, while Orchestra battled his way to the front where it mattered over 1m at Pontefract and has more improvement in him. Forceful Speed is another to take very seriously.

15:23 – Lawful Command (NAP)
With his sights lowered somewhat, LAWFUL COMMAND (NAP) can go very well on this first run since Glorious Goodwood. Three of his four wins have been on softer than good. Stately Home looks a solid option to follow him home, although the Godolphin entries Ghaly and King Of Conquest may still not be exposed and last year’s winner Rebel Territory also enters the equation.
15:58 – Keep in Touch
Irish challenger KEEP IN TOUCH is one of the more exposed candidates, having appeared in a Group 3 last time, but that was a good effort and offered the clear prospect of further improvement at this longer trip. Conservationist was dominant on her second start and Dream Of Love should be a player for Charlie Appleby following her debut win, but the chief threat may emerge from Queen Fleur who looked so far from the finished article when she dead-heated first time out with Chelsea Green at Sandown.
16:33 – Migration
Ottoman Fleet is a 3yo improver who catches the eye but he is unraced on softer than good, whereas his chief form rivals Algiers and MIGRATION do not bring any such concerns. Migration did not figure in a top 1m handicap last time but could be back on song over this trip which served him so well last season. He may be the one to beat Ottoman Fleet, but several others also bring significant interest.
17:08 – Riot
It could be chasing rainbows to give RIOT another chance but he has run well in much better company over C&D, not to speak of his third in the big 7f handicap at Royal Ascot last year, and the return to a stiff 7f on a straight track is likely to suit better than Ayr last month. There must be every chance David O’Meara will find the key to him at some stage. Hodler has another big run in him and looks the main danger, along with prolific Yarmouth winner Priscilla’s Wish, while Ataser, Astral Beau and Dancing To Win all have possibilities as well.
