Charlie Hall Chase runners

Eldorado Allen

Trainer: Joe Tizzard Jockey: Brendan Powell Age: 8 Weight: 11st 8lbs

High-class chaser who resumed with win in Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter last term and also bagged Grade 2 Denman Chase at Newbury. Much respected on his reappearance.

***

Paint The Dream

Trainer: Fergal O’Brien Jockey: Connor Brace Age: 8 Weight: 11st 6lbs

Made up into a very smart chaser last season, taking Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury, and shaped as if retaining his ability when third of 4 in handicap at Chepstow 21 days ago, still close up when blundering and struck into himself 5 out. No forlorn hope.

***

Sam Brown

Trainer: Anthony Honeyball Jockey: Aidan Coleman Age: 10 Weight: 11st 6lbs

Lightly-raced 10-y-o who signed off last term with a career-best win in 25f handicap chase at Aintree in April. He has gone well off a break before so can’t be dismissed on his seasonal return.

***

Ahoy Senor

Trainer: Lucinda Russell Jockey: Derek Fox Age: 7 Weight: 11st 5lbs

Enjoyed a fine first season over fences when a three-time winner, emphatically landing Grade 1 Mildmay Novices’ Chase at Aintree (25f) on his final run. This C&D scorer has the scope for plenty more progress and is the one to beat.

*****

Bravemansgame

Trainer: Paul Nicholls Jockey: Harry Cobden Age: 7 Weight: 11st 5lbs

Looked a natural over fences last season when going 4-4 in Newbury novices’ handicap in February but he came in a well-held last of 4 to Ahoy Senor in Mildmay Novices’ Chase at Aintree on his final run. Back after a wind op and remains with lots of potential. Very much in the mix.

****

Secret Investor

Trainer: Paul Nicholls Jockey: Bryony Frost Age: 10 Weight: 11st 2lbs

Very smart chaser but he has been off the track for 20 months since landing Betfair Denman Chase at Newbury. Others are preferred on this occasion.

***

Win My Wings

Trainer: Christian Williams Jockey: Jack Tudor Age: 9 Weight: 10st 13lbs

Much improved last term, relishing the test of stamina when completing her hat-trick in the Scottish National at Ayr. Running another good rece when falling 2 out in bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown. Not entirely dismissed.

Charlie Hall Chase tips

Timeform: AHOY SENOR enjoyed a fine first season over fences and looks every inch the sort to go on again this term so rates a confident choice to make a winning return and enhance his Gold Cup claims come March. Bravemansgame wasn’t at his best when well held behind Lucinda Russell’s exciting prospect at Aintree in April but has similar form and can have a say on the back of a wind op. Eldorado Allen also has the form to play a part and looks the pick of the rest in a fascinating Charlie Hall.
