It is a disappointing turnout for this conditions event, but it will be a surprise if EHRAZ is able to beat his two-year-old rivals. He wasn’t disgraced in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot and shaped better than the bare result on his return from four months off in a Group 3 at Ascot earlier this month. This looks a good opportunity for him to resume winning ways. Spirit of Breeze can complete the forecast.

PHYSIQUE was gelded before his debut but comes from a good family and showed plenty to work on when runner-up on debut at Newbury last week. He coped well with testing conditions on that occasion but was caught in the closing stages by one who had two runs under her belt. That experience won’t be lost on him and he can go one place better now. There are plenty of interesting newcomers in opposition, though, notably Majestic Pride.
14:05 – Bodorgan
The form of the course and distance win in which BODORGAN finished a close third has received a couple of boosts since and he can put his experience to good use now. He had the run of the race that day but stuck to his task well and there should be more to come from him now under Ryan Moore. Ben Dikduk can be expected to step up on his debut effort in due course but the selection may have most to fear from likely-looking newcomers Sceptic and Marcolini, both of whom tick plenty of the right boxes on paper.
14:40 – Believing
An open listed race in which the vote goes to BELIEVING, who patently failed to stay seven furlongs in the Oh So Sharp Stakes at this course last time and has solid claims on her placed efforts in the Serenia Stakes at Kempton and the Firth of Clyde Stakes at Ayr (where she had a few of these behind) in September. Marine Wave would have been closer to the selection in the Firth of Clyde but for meeting trouble so she’s feared most ahead of easy Pontefract maiden winner Kitai.
15:15 – Dual Identity
DUAL IDENTITY has been raised only 4 lb after arguably shaping best (first home on the far side) in the Cambridgeshire at this track last time and he should have enough to get back to winning ways over this slightly longer trip, likely at the main expense of Frantanck. Turntable arrives on the back of a win and rarely runs a bad race at this track.

15:50 – Novel Legend
NOVEL LEGEND benefited from the step up in trip when getting off the mark at Chester last time, and he was probably value for a bit extra than the official margins suggests, too, so with the extra two furlongs sure to suit even more, he’s preferred to Allmankind, who makes obvious appeal from a handicapping perspective back on the Flat but connections may be using this as a pipe-opener. Malakahna did well to get up at Ascot in September and also merits consideration.
16:25 – Downsman
DOWNSMAN hinted at a revival when shaping much better than the bare result at Newbury last time and with ground conditions to suit, he is fancied to capitalise on a handy mark and get back to winning ways. Torcello, who is a winner over course and distance, is also weighted to have a big say and won’t be inconvenienced by the ground, so is next on the list, while Old Port is not taken lightly either in his bid for a seventh win of the season.
17:00 – Alternative Fact
It’s been a while since ALTERNATIVE FACT last got his head in front but he has plenty going for him otherwise, given that he’s fresher than most (latest Nottingham near miss was just his second run following seven months off), Ryan Moore is booked and he has conditions in his favour. My Mate Ted is feared most on the back of a fine effort at Windsor but cases can also be easily made for Give It Some Teddy and Atlantis Blue, while Canoodled also enters calculations.
