SCOTT’S MOON is bred to be sharp and he showed ability when fourth at Haydock on debut last month, having every chance entering the final furlong but leaving the impression he would come forward for the run. That form is working out well and he looks the one to beat with improvement forthcoming. Last-time-out winner Sipahsalar and Project Back, who shaped well at York, are feared most.
KELPIE GREY has run to a similar level on all three starts so far, but he still looked rough around the edges when narrowly beaten at Hamilton last time, and should have even more to offer. That race was won by a big-priced outsider but the horse who he dead-heated with has boosted the form since and an opening mark of 71 looks perfectly fair for Kelpie Grey. Stablemate Carvetii is also making his handicap debut and may prove the biggest threat.
The William Haggas-trained DESERT HERO created a deep impression when making a winning debut at Haydock in June, looking better and better the further he went, and he was far from disgraced when third in the Solario Stakes at Sandown last time. That is easily the best form on offer in this field and this longer trip will suit him well. He should prove very hard to beat. Oh So Charming looks the obvious danger, whilst Mark Johnston’s Trojan Spirit is a noteworthy newcomer who needs monitoring in the market.
This isn’t a strong race and MAGNA MORALIA looks the one to beat on these terms. He won in heavy ground in good style at Pontefract in April but he has been inconsistent since, and didn’t run one of his better races in a similar event with the cheekpieces back on at Musselburgh a fortnight ago. He should have conditions in his favour and may be worth another chance with the headgear quickly removed. Licit and Nastasiya should also make their presence felt.
AWAAL rather stands out on profile as an upwardly-mobile three-year-old and it’s pretty easy to construct a handicapping case for him given the level of the horse he chased home at Haydock when last seen has achieved since. There is hope he will handle the forecast easier ground on pedigree and he holds the most compelling claims. Pisanello’s consistency is a real plus and he’s a threat, with Koy Koy another to consider.
The drop to six furlongs is probably a wise move for PUSSYCAT EYES, who showed improved form from her debut, but appeared to fade late on when third over seven furlongs at Chelmsford last time. That looked a fair enough race on paper and this expensive purchase should have even more to offer now making her turf debut. Grant Wood is slightly more exposed but is the obvious form danger, with Abruzzo Mia capable of better.

This looks a trappy affair with HIGHJACKED just about the most persuasive option given he arrives fresh for this time of year and ran up to his best when runner-up at Catterick last week. His ability to handle cut in the ground is another positive and he can prove too strong for Blazing Son and Stallone, who are a couple of potential threats.
CALETA SUNRISE produced a much-improved display when landing a big-field maiden at Windsor three weeks ago and she’s ahead of the game from this mark back in a handicap. It took her a while to break her duck but she looks genuine enough and may be able to kick on now. Porterinthejungle also won last time and is feared most, with Amasova also of interest for her new yard.
