KNIGHT made a really big impression when winning on his race course debut 27 days ago at Yarmouth. He was always cantering throughout proceedings and really stamped his authority on the field throughout the final quarter-mile.
HAMISH is short at the top of the market, however, you have to be impressed with his last two efforts including a second over in Ireland to Kyprios and then travelling much the best and only being asked for his final effort very late in the day for his Cumberland Lodge success last time. He should get the race run to suit and be played a little later in the day.
PICK 5 SATURDAY WINNERS AND 100 GRAND COULD BE YOURS
AESOPS FABLES, a half brother to Washington DC, will appreciate the drop back down into Listed company after trying his hand up at Group 1 level on the last couple of occasions. He has the required speed to drop back down in distance and although he has to carry a 5lb penalty, it shouldn’t be enough to slow him down. They have found an ideal opportunity for a nice confidence boosting win here.
HOLLOWAY BOY didn’t get a clear cut at the leaders at headquarters last time and I find it a little surprising they reach for the visor as it wasn’t his fault, it was more jockey error. The red-hot favourite Auguste Rodin will take a world of beating but he doesn’t appear to do a great deal when he hits the front and that’s where the opportunity lies for Holloway Boy to attack him fast and late. He’s reunited with Daniel Tudhope, who was successful on him in the Chesham on his racecourse debut.
VINTAGE CLARETS is a solid, likeable sprinter who turns up in tip-top condition having chased home a real in-form rival in the Catterick Dash last time. The new trainer and jockey combination have enjoyed a fruitful campaign together and they can round off the turf season at Doncaster with another success. Sunday Sovereign has dropped an awful lot in the handicap and I can’t resist a pound each-way on him just in case he decides to put his best foot forward with the blinkers on.
