13:25 – Trueshan

ITV cover all of Champions Day Saturday starting here with the Group 2 Long Distance Cup over 2m. TRUESHAN has been disappointing in his recent runs, particularly last time, but I really feel everything is set for him to bounce back to his very best. The Alan King trained star was a massive flop at Doncaster last time, but connections blamed themselves for the effort because they had run him at Goodwood on unsuitable ground for his previous race. He should reverse form with Coltrane and his Goodwood Cup third is probably enough to take care of the improving Leger hero Eldar Eldarov who gets a tasty 9lb. Come on Hollie Doyle!

14:00 – Kinross

This is the Group 1 Champions Sprint over 6f. KINROSS is so on top of his game right now that he can take care of the more established sprinters. The Ralph Beckett trained selection has been excelling over seven furlongs, but I really think he can cope with this drop in trip as he will be ridden from off the strong pace by Frankie Dettori. His effort in the Ganay last time was superb and let’s face it the six furlong sprinters are not a vintage bunch.

14:40 – Eshaada

Now the Group 1 Fillies and Mares over 1m4f. This is wide open. Last year’s heroine ESHAADA has been disappointing since her success here but I think we can risk a few quid on her eachway this time. I’m guessing she didn’t stay a longer trip at Doncaster when last seen and before that the Roger Varian-trained inmate was unlucky when in a messy race at Haydock. Jim Crowley rides and I like her chances to hit the frame at least.

15:20 – The Revenant

One of the most important races of the year in the Group 1 QEII over a mile. Inspiral will probably win, but for betting purposes I’m happy to back THE REVENANT each way for French trainer Francis-Henri Graffard with Ryan Moore a great booking. My hope was fourth behind Baaeed and Palace Pier in this last year and this is much less competitive. Of course in 2020 The Revenant won this great prize and while he’s not been at his best this season, including when second in Group 2 company last time, this is a fine opportunity. Strong place chances.

16:00 – Stone Age (each-way)

The big one of the day in the Group 1 Champions Stakes over 1m2f. Right so we all know Baaeed is very likely to romp this and Adayar will be massively hard to kick out the frame if he doesn’t bounce after his comeback. So an eachway bet is probably crazy, but I’m having a few quid on STONE AGE for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore. The one-time big Derby fancy was not disgraced in Ireland last time behind Luxembourg and Arc runner-up Vadeni and might easily get an uncontested lead here. Those that might take him on can be shaken off quickly in any case. At massive odds I’ll roll the dice.

16:40 – Perotto (each-way)

The day finishes with the Balmoral Handicap over 1m. PEROTTO won the 2021 Britannia off a mark of 99 and including the claim of Harry Davies is off 97 here. Now he’s not done much lately for Marcus Tregoning and he wouldn’t want any massive amount of rain. But if the ground is near enough good to soft he has eachway claims from off the pace.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
