13:25 – Trueshan
Alan King’s runner is looking for a remarkable treble in this Long Distance Cup. He hasn’t had a real clear cut at his last couple of races after racing a little bit too early at Goodwood and then again at Doncaster where he made a massive effort at the start of the long straight, before getting beaten in a photo by Coltrane. I’d imagine they will be a little bit more patient around Ascot which suits his style perfectly. TRUESHAN can claim the scalp of the younger St Leger winner, Eldar Eldarov.

14:00 – Naval Crown
Godolphin’s runner was absolutely spectacular in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes in June and also ran a stormer in the July Cup when just denied by Alcohol Free. His two efforts since have come on fairly quick conditions and hasn’t enjoyed it as much as the results will tell you. The way Ascot is configured, NAVAL CROWN can edge a little bit right-handed towards the main pacesetters from his stall 16 draw and deliver his challenge on fresh ground.

14:40 – Emily Upjohn
She looked out of the top drawer when winning her first couple of races this season for the Gosdens. She was unlucky not to win the Epsom Oaks when coming from way back after stumbling in the starting stalls and is better than she showed in the King George at this track on her last start. EMILY UPJOHN is much better than that and her excellent handler has given her plenty of time to aim her at this big prize. Albaflora could sneak a place if you want an outsider to consider.
15:20 – Inspiral
She has a very enviable profile and comes in to another Group 1 race on the back of a very impressive victory in France. We know she handles this track particularly well having been nothing short of sensational when winning the Coronation Stakes at the Royal meeting during the summer. Trainer John Gosden could make it very interesting at the top of the trainers’ championship with a few victories on Saturday and will be looking to INSPIRAL to deliver one at least. El Drama was carrying plenty of condition for his return at Newmarket and is another who can outrun his odds.
16:00 – Adayar
The Epsom Derby and King George winner looked as good as ever in a very small field at Doncaster last time, winning with his head in his chest. That will have teed ADAYAR up perfectly for this assignment against the world’s best racehorse on official ratings, Baaeed. It’s going to require a career-best effort but he is a fresh horse coming into this assignment and could well spoil the party for everybody who is expecting superstar Baaeed to end his career unbeaten.

16:40 – Perotto
This former Royal Ascot winner has rock-solid course and distance form but it hasn’t been all been plain sailing for him this season. He’s now dropped 10lb on official ratings and gets the added bonus of another 3lb off his back with the excellent Harry Davies in the saddle. Surprisingly this will be only PERROTO‘s third lifetime start with some ease in the ground and it could bring about a of improvement from his reduced handicap mark.
