There was a lot to like about the way CAVARN CLUB stayed on once he got the hang of things at Yarmouth and he may ensure that Lerwick has to settle for second again. Bulldog Spirit, who carries a penalty for his Newcastle win, and Oh So Charming should also be on the premises.
15:44 – PLAYUPSKYBLUES
This shouldn’t take much winning at all and the obvious candidate is PLAYUPSKYBLUES, though not even he’s proven on the ground. None of the others have shown much at all, though Camusdarach has been gelded since his debut and he’s bred to be decent.

The suggestion is MIN TILL, as she beat a decent yardstick for this level at Ayr and her lightly raced profile suggests she could have more to offer. Cleveleys strikes as one new trainer David O’Meara will get a win or two out of so he’s next on the list. Swinging Eddie, Patontheback and Blazing Son are also on the shortlist.

It’s surprising that KINGSOFTHEMIDLANDS has not tried some form of headgear until now as the ability is there to win a race of this nature. Prakasa is the obvious danger, with Godolphin castoff Zarabanda and Compliant the others likely to be involved.

A chance is taken on CONTRAST, a former runner-up in this race who could strip fitter for his reappearance run. She’s Got Bottle has obvious claims and both Bigbadboy and Hot Team can also feature.
