13:00 – Tommy’s Oscar
Only two runners but it is an interesting race with smart hurdler TOMMY’S OSCAR making his debut over fences. He was one of the success stories of last season, recording a four-timer in the Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock before finding the Champion Hurdle itself a step too far. However, he is a point winner who could do even better in this sphere, and should have too much for his sole opponent with a clear round.

13:35 – Wall of Fame
Donald McCain and Theo Gillard have combined to win the last two runnings of this race and might make it three in a row courtesy of WALL OF FAME, who perhaps didn’t take to blinkers last time and had run well in these cheekpieces prior to that. He remains on a good mark and may prove too strong for Mulberry Hill, who is more than capable off her current mark and rates a threat for the Fergal O’Brien team. Good Bye’s recent consistency also earns him a place on the shortlist.
14:10 – Springwell Baby
SPRINGWELL BAY confirmed the huge promise of his debut run (for Margaret Mullins) when scoring readily in a bumper at Market Rasen 10 months ago. The bare form of that victory isn’t that strong but there was plenty to like about the manner of that success and looks an exciting prospect for hurdling. He can make a winning return at the possible expense of Iorens, a winning pointer who has joined a top yard.
14:45 – The Ferry Master
THE FERRY MASTER looked one to follow after shaping very well when fourth in the Scottish Grand National in 2021, but he didn’t manage to go on as hoped last season and was underwhelming in the latest edition of the Scottish National when last see. However, given the promise that he showed as a novice, the nine-year-old could be worth another chance to get back on track in an open race after six months off. Court Dreaming, who won this race two years ago and finished runner-up last year, is feared most, ahead of Wye Aye.
15:20 – Azof Des Mottes
There are lots with chances so at the likely odds it is worth siding with AZOF DES MOTTES who hails from a yard among the winners and returns after a wind operation on a handy-looking mark. Calculus makes his handicap debut with more to offer so is feared most, although Spot On Soph, Iolani and Runwiththetide all need factoring into a very open handicap.
15:55 -Tico Times
TICO TIMES is going through a good spell at present, winning three of his last six starts and lost little in defeat when runner-up at Sedgefield last week. This race doesn’t look any stronger and he seems sure to launch another bold bid from the same mark. He’s narrowly preferred to last season’s rapid improver Wheelbahri, who may yet have more to offer.

16:30 – School Days Over
SCHOOL DAYS OVER must concede 7 lb to a couple of point winners in Saint Davy (who fetched £270,000) and General Officer but such was the impression he created at Market Rasen in May, he could well be up to the task. He made up plenty of ground on that occasion and could be open to any amount of improvement now.
