The Timeform crew reckon The Organiser (4pm) will go close later.

13:40 – Golden Bullet

Golden Bullet fared better than previously when fourth in a six-furlong maiden here last month and he appeals as being on a fair mark as he steps into nursery company for the first time. Golden Bullet took a strong hold here last time so this drop back to the minimum trip could suit. It certainly shouldn’t be an issue based on pedigree as Golden Bullet is by No Nay Never and out of a useful mare whose three wins as a juvenile included two over five furlongs.

14:15 – Diamond Vega

Diamond Vega made a promising start to her career when runner-up at Kempton a couple of weeks ago, showing ability at the first attempt. Diamond Vega never seriously threatened the comfortable winner at Kempton, but she stayed on in encouraging style inside the final furlong and is entitled to be sharper for that experience.

14:50 – Sky Blue Pink

Sky Blue Pink had failed to impress on her first few starts this term, but she went through the race with much more fluency when finishing runner-up at Salisbury a couple of weeks ago, showing no sign of the lazy streak that had held her back earlier in the year. Sky Blue Pink was only headed close home in that six-furlong handicap which looks likely to provide a reliable piece of form, and she remains on a competitive mark after edging up 2 lb. It’s worth noting she won over this course and distance last season.

Haydock-Park Flat Battash

15:25 – Saxon King

Saxon King was too green to do himself justice on debut but he showed a lot more when third at Ascot and then confirmed that promise when runner-up at Lingfield a couple of weeks ago, going down by just a head. That is the best form on offer and this looks like a good opportunity for Saxon King to get off the mark.

16:00 – The Organiser

The Organiser was below his best at York last month on his first start for Karl Burke having left Joe Tuite, but he produced a much more encouraging display at Ayr a couple of weeks ago, shaping better than the result would suggest. The Organiser was only sixth but he probably would have made the frame had he not been denied a run when going well over two furlongs out. He kept on nicely close home, though, and it’s surprising that he was dropped 4 lb in the weights. He remains with potential for this yard and looks to be on a handy mark.

16:33 – Beach Breeze

Beach Breeze disappointed at Kempton on his penultimate outing but he quickly bounced back to form when fourth at Leicester last week. He had run to a similar level when third at Leicester in August and he has fewer questions to answer than most in this nursery.

17:08 – Whitehaven

Whitehaven has been below his very best this term, but he has offered some encouragement the last twice and will be suited by the testing conditions at Haydock. Whitehaven won three times on ground deemed heavy by Timeform towards the back-end of 2020, while it’s also worth pointing out his positive record at this venue. Whitehaven was runner-up in a mile-and-a-half handicap here last August and bolted up by four and a quarter lengths in this race 12 months ago, displaying plenty of stamina on his first crack at two miles. He is only 2lb higher in the weights this time around and can follow up.
