13:50 – Royaume Uni

Disappointing on both starts on the Flat last season, but ROYAUME UNI  put in some solid efforts over hurdles, winning a Fontwell handicap before finishing runner-up at Newbury and Cheltenham. He has been given a big chance by the handicapper – he is only 1 lb above his last winning Flat mark – and he ought to give a good account if ready to roll on his return from a six-month absence.

14:25 – Many Rivers

Was sent off an unconsidered 100/1 shot on debut at Newbury last month but MANY RIVERS shaped with promise to finish fourth in a maiden that contained some well-bred sorts and is likely to work out well. Many Rivers, who has a good pedigree herself being a sister to Group 3 winner Comedy, fared best of those who were held up, despite being found wanting for some know-how. She ought to improve for the experience and looks the one to beat.

15:00 – Chiefofchiefs

CHIEFOFCHIEFS is on a long losing run that stretches back to the Silver Wokingham at Royal Ascot in 2020 but he has run some good races in extremely competitive affairs, including when fourth in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at the Royal meeting earlier this season. He was by no means disgraced when in mid-division in the Ayr Gold Cup last time but he has been eased 2 lb in the weights and takes a drop in class, so this looks like a good opportunity for him to register an overdue success.

15:35 – Solutre

Showed ability when beaten little more than half a length in third on his debut at Haydock in June and SOLUTRE built on that promise when runner-up at Leicester a couple of weeks later, finding only the talented Naval Power too strong. Solutre didn’t have to improve on that form to get off the mark at Newcastle, but he showed a good attitude to prevail and there could be more to come from this well-bred colt on his handicap debut.

16:10 – Rathgar

Too green to do himself justice on debut at this venue in August but RATHGAR showed improved form when third back here last month, staying on in encouraging style. Rathgar still didn’t look the finished article so he is entitled to progress again and, with improvement on the cards, has sound claims of getting off the mark.

16:45 – Saratoga Gold

SARATOGA GOLD has progressed rapidly since being fitted with blinkers and completed the hat-trick in good style at Epsom last month. He has gone up another 5 lb for that authoritative length-and-a-half success but is clearly in superb form at present and can extend his winning sequence in the blinkers to four.

17:20 – Stately Home

Most of these have something to prove but STATELY HOME was beaten just a neck when runner-up at Haydock on his penultimate start and was then beaten only a head and a neck when third over this course and distance last month. That was a better race than the one he contests here and he ought to go close if running to a similar level.
