Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumperNAPs Tableto give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
PHONEIX BEACH is lightly raced 3yo who got off the mark in a C&D novice event six weeks ago (AW debut); comfortably on top at the finish on that occasion but it didn’t look a strong race and he will need further progress if he is to make a winning handicap debut.
EFFERNOCK FIZZ more exposed than her rivals (4-20 over hurdles and 7-69 in career) but excelled herself when second in a Tipperary Grade 3 a week ago, splitting much higher-rated rivals, in this combination of aids for the first time; taken at face value, that makes her hard to beat, even from out of the handicap; likely to have her own way out in front, as well.
EMINENCY justified favouritism at Windsor (6f, good to firm) on second start, beating Chartwell House by a neck; creditable fifth in Doncaster sales race (6.5f, good to soft) latest and that form has been well advertised since; looks likely to stay 7f and, judged on latest effort, opening mark of 87 looks very workable; respected.
PUB CRAWL is a 12-race maiden but he has regularly threatened in middle-distance handicaps (including his one AW run when second over 1m6f on Polytrack); not at his best at Chester a fortnight ago but this is less demanding.
