Newmarket 13:50 – Flying Honours

ITV Saturday gets under way here with the Group 3 Zetland Stakes for juveniles over 1m2f. A staying test. FLYING HONOURS has the best form and looks sure to relish the trip for Charlie Appleby and William Buick. The Sandown and Salisbury winner was a fine third behind The Foxes in the Royal Lodge keeping on well over that mile. A fine staying prospect.

York 14:05 – Alpha Capture

ITV are also at York Saturday for this Listed Rockingham Stakes for juveniles over 6f. ALPHA CAPTURE did really well against Cold Case at Doncaster last time over a little further and might well be good enough for this. Tom Marquand’s mount should still be improving for William Haggas after just three runs and any rain won’t be a problem.

Newmarket 14:25 – Holloway Boy

Here we have the Group 3 Autumn Stakes for two-year-olds over 1m. The one I like here is Royal Ascot winner HOLLOWAY BOY for Karl Burke and Clifford Lee. The Chesham winner was a shock one back in June, but has since proved that no fluke with seconds in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket. In both those seven furlong contests he looked sure to lap up this trip and could be a timely winner as he was beaten by Nostrum who goes in the next race.

York 14:40 – Marching Army

This is a handicap over an extended 1m2f. MARCHING ARMY can go from the front and will be hard to pass for Saaed bin Suroor and Louis Steward. I’m delighted the latter has the chance to show what he can do on a good one and he got a right tune out of Marching Army in a hot race at Newbury last time. Strong claims.

Newmarket 15:00 – Chaldean

The biggest juvenile race of them all, the Group 1 Dewhurst over 7f. Nostrum and Naval Power are clearly useful but CHALDEAN continues to be underestimated and has a great chance of finishing in the first two at the very least. Frankie Dettori rides for Andrew Balding and I thought the Acomb winner was dominant at Doncaster last time in the Champagne. I have a feeling he won’t be easy to pass.

York 15:15 – Gulliver

A handicap over 6f. There is no doubt GULLIVER is a very well handicapped horse at the moment and this might just be his day for the in form David O’Meara and Danny Tudhope. His sixth of twenty at the Curragh and seventh at this track behind Summerghand was decent efforts and he’s down 4lb from the latter performance.

Newmarket 15:40 – Scaramanga (each way)

One of the main handicaps of the season in the Cesarewitch over 2m2f. This race was a fantastic one for the column last year when Buzz hacked up – and I want to bag it again! SCARAMANGA could be chucked in for Jason Watson and Willie Mullins who is always to be feared in the Casarewitch. Scaramanga went up to 144 over hurdles last season while the Ascot Stakes looked like two furlongs too far at the Royal meeting. I would guess this 2m 2f trip will be ideal. Must have an each-way chance.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
