13:35 Chepstow – Cloth Cap
ITV Racing is back Friday starting here over jumps with a veterans’ handicap chase over nearly 3m. The form of CLOTH CAP is very patchy of late but there is no doubt he’s chucked in off 144 if anywhere near his best. Conditions are ideal for a big effort so just hope the Jonjo O’Neill team have him ready first time. Should jump for fun from the front.

13:50 Newmarket – Crispy Cat
ITV are on the Flat at Newmarket Friday for this Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes for juveniles over 5f. Prince of Pillo impressed last time but is held by CRISPY CAT on form and the market might have this wrong. The Ryan Moore mount was in front of Pillo at Doncaster recently and while it’s a long time since his only victory he might be able to get back to winning ways here for Michael O’Callaghan.

14:10 Chepstow – Presentandcounting
Grade 2 company now for the Persian War Novices’ Hurdle over nearly 2m4f. I have to say I don’t think this is the strongest of renewals. That said, surely PRESENTANDCOUNTING must have at least place claims for Donald McCain and Brian Hughes. The recent multiple winner stays well and has a decent rating for his wins.
14:25 Newmarket – Lose Yourself
This is the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes for fillies over 7f. Many of these open to improvement so there is an element of guesswork. That said, LOSE YOURSELF impressed me on debut at Newmarket and the runner-up in that race has since bolted in. Goes for Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan.
14:40 York – Young Fire
ITV are also at York Friday for this handicap over 1m. YOUNG FIRE has not won for over a year but is back on a good mark now for David O’Meara. That last win came off a mark of 96 and he’s on 94 now so it’s clear to all he’s a well handicapped horse. Jason Watson is a good jockey booking and although he runs a lot at 7f this trip is not an issue.

15:00 Newmarket – Sacred
A Group 2 here over 7f. SACRED bolted up at Newbury last time and I see no reason why she won’t win again for Tom Marquand and William Haggas. The filly has a potent turn of pace on a going day and has always had class having finished seventh in a 1000 Guineas.
15:15 York – Coco Jack
A valuable 2yo conditions race over 7f. Streets of Gold is the one to beat, but I’ll play COCO JACK each way for Danny Muscutt and George Scott. My selection is proven at the trip and ran a really good race in defeat last time. On ratings has at least an eachway chance.
15:35 Newmarket – Commissioning
The feature of the day for many in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile for youngsters to show their Classic worth. This should provide Robert Havlin with a huge domestic Group 1 thanks to COMMISSIONING trained by John and Thady Gosden. The daughter of Kingman looked good in the Rockfel on her second start and there should be plenty more to come.
15:50 York – Double Cherry
A staying handicap time over 1m6f. DOUBLE CHERRY will have a massive chance if the rain comes for the excellent Sean Levey and Tom Ward. My hope is only up 2lb for a Haydock success last time but while that was a narrow win it only tells half the story as Double Cherry got a horrible run through the pack.
16:10 Newmarket – La Yakel
The Old Rowley Cup Handicap over 1m4f. LA YAKEL really impressed me at Ascot when last seen and I’m not sure a 5lb rise will stop the horse winning again for William Haggas and Tom Marquand. The son of Time Test seemed to relish 1m4f and should get a decent pace or run at.
