Chepstow 13:35 – Cloth Cap
Jonjo O’Neill’s charge Cloth Cap ran a really good race at Cheltenham first time out last season and the ground is the key to this son of Beneficial. He was fourth that day but was 12lbs higher in the weights than he is now. The biggest danger for me is Some Chaos who won this race last year and has a good record when running fresh. He has to bounce back from a couple of disappointing efforts but is capable of doing that after a break.

Chepstow 14:10 – Scipion
Presentandcounting has been a winning machine this summer and he loves fast ground, goes a gallop and is a very good jumper. With the ground being on the quick side he will be tough to beat, if having it his own way. I don’t think he will, though.
Quid Pro Quo has not come off the bridle in two wins and slots into the ‘could be anything’ category. It will be interesting to see how he gets on as I don’t think he is straightforward to ride. We won’t know what’s underneath the bonnet until he gets in a battle.
Scipion finished second to future Dublin Racing Festival second Minella Crooner on decent ground in a point-to-point in 2021 and signed off last season with a maiden hurdle win at this venue. His trainer Tom Lacey will have him ready first time up.

Newmarket 14:25 – Lose Yourself
Rossa Ryan and Ralph Beckett team up again and will be hoping for better luck than they had in France last week! Lose Yourself was an eye-catching winner on slow ground at the July course doing her best work at the finish. She will stay well and that could make all the difference.

Newmarket 15:00 – Sacred
The William Haggas charge Sacred won the Nell Gwyn over course and distance beating Saffron Beach and that is very good form. She was a ready winner of a Listed race at Newbury last time and this race is right up her street.
Newmarket 15:35 – Commissioning
Commissioning, a daughter of Kingman, was ridden to victory last time by today’s rider Rob Havlin and she bolted up on the Rowley Mile course, showing a smart turn of foot to put a big field to bed easily. Library looks a very big price and could be a good each-way angle as Aidan O’Brien doesn’t send them over for the air miles!
