It's a fun Friday on the ITV tellybox and top pundit Jason Weaver covers the action from Newmarket & York.

13:50 Newmarket – Crispy Cat

Crispy Cat has been super consistent throughout the current campaign and continues to thrive on a busy schedule. He was in front of the favourite last time when they met and there is every reason at the prices to expect him to confirm that form. Ryan Moore takes over in the saddle and it will be a little game of cat and mouse between him and Prince of Pillo.

14:25 Newmarket – Rage of Bamby

Rage of Bamby looked all over the winner coming down the hill into the dip at headquarters last time and was only run out of it late in the day behind Commissioning. That form is obviously red-hot and there is a possibility that she can improve if they hold onto her a little bit longer and delay her challenge. It’s going to be a big afternoon for the Eve Johnson Houghton stable up and down the country.

14:40 York – Redarna

It seems a long time since his first Royal Hunt Cup success and he has run well from his revised handicap mark on a few occasions suggesting that his time is near to return to the winners enclosure. Neil Callan takes over in the saddle on Redarna and that can be a deciding factor, even allowing for the fact he is drawn wide in stall 16. He will be dropped in and played late and can benefit from a strong drive to regain that winning habit.

15:00 Newmarket – Sacred

Overall she has a particularly good record at HQ and looked right back to her best when slamming the opposition at Newbury last time. It’s a great renewal of this contest with only a few lbs separating several of the runners. Sacred should be able to stamp her class on this field.

15:15 York – Defence of Fort

Defence of Fort looked really good when winning on his racecourse debut at Ascot and was subsequently stepped up significantly in grade at Sandown. He was ridden fairly aggressively and the winner on that occasion came from last position, suggesting that the pace was particularly hot early on. Defence of Fort has a little to find on official ratings but we definitely haven’t seen the best of him yet.

15:35 Newmarket – Commissioning

Has looked good in her two starts to date and it looks as if the mile trip could even bring about more improvement in Commissioning. She is out of a full sister to an Irish derby and St Leger winner in Capri, so stEpping up in trip looks perfect. She has shown a great attitude so far and it’s her ability to travel smoothly which gives her an extra edge over her rivals.

15:50 York – Post Impressionist

Ran with the choke out last time for most of the contest at Haydock and did incredibly well despite there being a lot of carnage later on throughout the final quarter mile. Provided Post Impressionist settles a little better in the early stages and has a clean run late on, he still looks well ahead of his official rating of 87. This galloping track will suit him down to the ground.

16:10 Newmarket – Paradias (each-way)

This 1m 4f trip may well just squeeze the required improvement from this little colt, as he hit the line strongly a couple of times, including last time at Goodwood. That suggests the trip is well within his reach. He’s going to fly under the radar from a price perspective as we are represented with a lot of top connections and top pedigrees. He looks ridiculously overpriced to me as an each-way shout.

Jason Weaver’s best bets:

14:25 Newmarket – Rage of Bamby
14:40 York – Redarna
15:00 Newmarket – Sacred
15:15 York – Defence of fort
