13:30 – Sameem

SAMEEM was disappointing at Catterick in August but he possibly found the race coming too soon only ten days after turning in his best effort of the season when runner-up at Haydock. Sameem has been freshened up since Carlisle and looks a big player off a mark only 1 lb higher than when runner-up at Haydock.

14:05 – Tough Enough

TOUGH ENOUGH produced a promising effort when runner-up at Newbury on debut and looks the one to beat based on that display. Tough Enough showed plenty of ability at Newbury and went down by just three-quarters of a length to a talented rival who had the benefit of experience to call on. He should be more streetwise with that outing under his belt and can take a step forward here.

14:40 – Qoya

QOYA failed to meet expectations when only fourth at Catterick last time, failing to improve for the step up to a mile and a three-quarters as anticipated, but the modest pace meant that there was less of an emphasis on stamina than expected at the trip. Qoya had previously been in good form, winning comfortably at Kempton and losing out by just a short-head at Haydock, and, back on a galloping track, is well worth another chance off the same mark as at Catterick.

15:15 – Mr Buster

There are some well-bred newcomers in this maiden, including MR BUSTER who is by Sea The Stars and a half-brother to several winners including the very smart stayer Patkai. Mr Buster, who cost €120,000 as a yearling, is out of a sister to the multiple Group 1 winner Islington and makes his debut with trainer Ralph Beckett among the winners.

15:50 – Have Secret

HAVE SECRET has created a favourable impression since going handicapping and shaped nicely when third at Ayr last time. Have Secret was only narrowly denied at Chester in July and then showed a good attitude to get off the mark in a seven-furlong nursery at Haydock, staying on strongly close home to overhaul the favourite. He had to settle for minor honours at Ayr last time on his first crack at a mile, but he again kept on powerfully and, in finishing third, fared best of those held up. He still looks well handicapped off a 2 lb higher mark and should cope with this even longer trip, so he holds strong claims.

16:20 – Shaladar

SHALADAR put in a rare below-par effort at York on his penultimate start when he probably failed to stay the mile-and-a-quarter trip, but he bounced back in style over a mile at Ayr last week, putting in his best effort yet to score by half a length under this rider. Shaladar doesn’t pick up a penalty for that victory in an apprentice handicap and looks the one to beat off the same mark here.

16:55 – Mount Kosciuszko

The improving MOUNT KOSCIUZKO was unable to complete the four-timer at Newmarket last month but he ran his best race yet in defeat, going down by just two necks in third. The frame was filled by three-year-olds going the right way so that appeals as being a solid piece of form and Mount Kosciuszko holds leading claims off the same mark here.

17:30 – A E Housman

A E HOUSMAN improved on his previous efforts when getting off the mark in a mile maiden at Lingfield, staying on to beat the standard-setter by a neck with the pair pulling seven lengths clear. Based on that performance an opening mark of 82 looks potentially lenient for A E Houseman who is in excellent hands with John and Thady Gosden and should still have more to offer after only four starts.
