13:15 – Dundory

DUNDORY has proved at least as good as ever on his last two starts, winning in decisive fashion at Goodwood and then running at least as well in defeat when filling the runner-up spot at Epsom. He was beaten just a length and a half on the last occasion, looking unlucky not to finish closer still having been caught further back than ideal in a race run at just a modest gallop. He can line up from the same mark today and seems sure to go well again.

13:50 – Eastvan

EASTVAN made a very promising debut at Hamilton in August, taking a while to get the hang of things before finishing strongly once the penny dropped late on. He passed the post a little over two lengths behind the winner, who had the benefit of previous experience, and the way he shaped there suggests he could make above-average improvement with the run under his belt. In a weak-looking novice event, he is worth a chance to get off the mark at the second attempt.

14:25 – Engles Rock

ENGLES ROCK has already won twice over this course and distance this season, latterly from a BHA mark of 64 just last month. She is only 3 lb higher in the weights today and it’s worth putting a line through her below-par effort back here last time, never getting the chance to open up fully against the far rail. This represents a significant drop in grade and a good opportunity for her to bring up her third win of the campaign.

15:00 – Maple Jack

MAPLE JACK produced a career-best effort to regain the winning thread over this course and distance last week, hitting the front over a furlong out and quickly drawing clear from there to win by three lengths with plenty in hand. This will be a quicker-than-ideal turnaround, but he is potentially well treated under just a 5 lb penalty if arriving here in the same sort of form. He’s still relatively lightly raced and it’s not out of the question that he may yet have more to offer, too.

15:35 – Monhammer

MONHAMMER is another horse trying to repeat his course and distance win from last week. The official winning margin was just a length, but he was value for a bit extra given how things panned out, travelling strongly and coming through to lead late on without his rider needing to get too serious. He has been running well throughout the summer and there is no reason why he shouldn’t give under good account today under his 5 lb penalty.

16:10 – Spartakos

SPARTAKOS proved a disappointment when well backed at Catterick last month, but he had a valid excuse as the testing conditions probably worked against him. He is 1 lb lower in the weights today and that mean he lines up from the same mark as when digging deep to win this race 12 months ago. He isn’t the easiest horse to predict but hopefully won’t give up his crown without a fight as long as the conditions at Ayr don’t deteriorate.

16:45 – Two Summers

TWO SUMMERS took a step back in the right direction when sixth on her most recent outing at Catterick, leaving the impression she would have finished third at worst but for her saddle slipping in the closing stages. She is worth a chance to build on that run and clearly has the ability to win a race from a BHA mark of 49 when everything falls right. Today could well be the day with the booking of Hollie Doyle very much catching the eye.

17:15 – City Vaults

CITY VAULTS went like the best horse at the weights when last seen filling the runner-up spot at Chelmsford, only tiring late on having made a big move into contention over two furlongs out. That was almost certainly to blame for his tame finishing effort, though his stamina might well have been stretched on his first try at two miles anyway. Regardless, he remains one to be interested in and can show the benefit of a drop in trip to get his head back in front.
