Each-way cases could be made for The Thunderer, Rikona and Berrygar in a competitive race. Both Hydration and Wolverhampton scorer Syndicated (next best) hail from immediate families with winning prowess over this specific C&D, and they’re the pick of those with experience. At the same time, however, this looks a very realistic introduction for HIGHER LAW, out of a classy juvenile and representing a yard whose runners in this age group continue in tremendous form. Lunar Landscape is respected also.

18:25 Lieber Power

Supreme King comes with a slight risk, having been a disappointing favourite when last seen, but holds a big chance on his earlier form and the great majority of these rivals aren’t easy to recommend. One exception is LIEBER POWER, an interesting alternative who should improve plenty on his effort in a stronger race at Newbury. Mickey Mongoose could pick up minor prize-money returned to AW, while Sea The Stars filly Sea Of Elegance may prove best of the newcomers.

19:00 Al Shibli

This could be between the 3yos Lir Speciale and AL SHIBLI. The last named has got better with each of his three runs since returning from a long absence, and the first-time blinkers could eke out further improvement. Lir Speciale is very much feared, however, as the step up in trip could be a firm positive. Night Narcissus, Business and Animal Instinct could stage revivals now back on AW.

A smart-looking but trappy affair, with Acklam Express and First Folio (next best) not hitherto proven on artificial surfaces, while Shine So Bright and MUTAFAWWIG have not won over a sprint distance this decade. The vote nevertheless goes to the last named, who still retains very low mileage for his age and finished well on top on his sole visit here, following a far bigger absence than tonight’s.

20:00 Double Time (NAP)

Having finished fast for second over 7f here on last month’s handicap debut, the very lightly raced 4yo DOUBLE TIME (nap) can go one better back up in trip today. Courtside is racing for the first time since May but is nevertheless feared most having won his first two starts for Sean Curran. Solanna is 2-2 here, while the unexposed 4yo Monteria is another who could run well.

20:30 Fiscal Policy

It is tempting to side with You Are My World, who was a C&D winner in a higher grade off only 2lb lower when last seen and is low enough mileage to do better still. Even more lightly tried than that one, however, is FISCAL POLICY, seen doing some fair late work in novice company here last time and embarking on his handicap career today. Rainbow Sign and Magicinthemaking round off the shortlist.
