13:15 – The Antarctic

The Ballydoyle runner was never going any better than right on top of the line at Newmarket last time behind his stablemate Blackbeard. Stepping up to the long spring distance of 7f will suit him and he shouldn’t be inconvenienced by some give underfoot. The Antarctic has already has some soft ground form in the book. He backs up fairly quickly after last week’s run, but that’s never usually a problem with this operation.

13:50 – Blue Rose Cen

The heavens will need to open for her to be seen at her best, but that’s a distinct possibility as she is very good when the mud is flying. This could prove a real test for a few of these who are stepping up in distance also and Blue Rose Cen has course and distance form in the book already.

15:05 – Luxembourg

His only defeat so far came in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket and his career got back on track perfectly with two very solid wins. The way Luxembourg went through the line last time in the Champions Stakes at Leopardstown would suggest that this trip is well within his compass. Given that his Doncaster Group 1 win at the back end of his juvenile career was on soft ground, that is also a positive.

15:50 – Nashwa

She’s been a rapid improver for the Gosden stable and just didn’t seem to last out the extra quarter of a mile at Epsom. Nashwa subsequently managed to win the French Oaks at Chantilly and was a comfortable winner of the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. These may not prove to be her ideal conditions that there is no doubting that she is still very much on the improve.

16:25 – Caturra (each-way)

Statistics will tell you that you need to have a low stall position as it is very difficult to win from anywhere near double digit stalls. Caturra has not been at his best so far and was beaten quite a long way in Ireland last time, but that was surely not anywhere near his best. He comes from a good sprint academy, who know how to win this contest. Just as importantly, he has that number four stall position to run from.

17:00 – Sandrine (each-way)

Her form ties in very well with Kinross, and Sandrine is bound to be overlooked in the market. Her only try when the mud was really flying, came at the Royal meeting in the Albany Stakes and she sluiced through those conditions. This is possibly Sandrine’s ideal trip under what could prove extreme conditions come the end of the day.
